SWIPE TO THE END TO HEAR IT

Here’s something real cool

This is an Enya EA-X1 Pro; and it’s as ready for the stage as it is for the sofa! Beautiful sunburst Solid Spruce top like you’d get on an instrument of a much higher price point, paired with a Mahogany neck and Rosewood back and sides.

Acoustically it’s great, deep, punchy, articulate, everything you expect from an instrument of this size with a solid top, but its when you press the little button on the side that it really kicks up a notch…

At the press of that button it unveils its secret weapon; on board Effects! Not only one, but four! Chorus, Reverb, Delay and Flanger all come straight out of the sound hole, no wires, no amps, nothing but the guitar! They’re all individually adjustable on the rotary control, and if that wasn’t already enough, it’s got a pickup as well, and it’s rechargeable! No 9V battery scramble here!

Yamaha makes something similar, the ‘Transcoustic’; excellent instruments but a lot more money upfront. Get the same feel at a fraction of the price.

RRP on these is around £369, this one is a few months old and immaculate, yours for £225, comes with its original fitted Soft Bag.

SWIPE TO THE END TO HEAR IT

Have I got something for you

This Enya EA-X1 Pro is ready for the stage or the sofa; it’s in a beautiful satin sunburst finish, with a solid Spruce top, Mahogany neck and Rosewood back and sides. It’s a great guitar in its own merit, loud, punchy and with lots of low end presence; but it’s got a secret…

At the touch of a button, you activate its secret weapon, the onboard effects! It comes loaded with Chorus, Reverb, Delay, and a Flanger style effect, all individually controlled on the small button on the side. The best part? You don’t have to plug it in! You can get these effects sat down on the sofa at home, no wires, no amps, just you and the guitar.

Yamaha have something similar called the ‘Transcoustic’, excellent instruments but a lot more money than this is available for.

On the last slide I demonstrate the Chorus, Reverb and Delay in order

This is a few months old and immaculate, RRP is around the £350 mark, yours for £225, includes original soft bag.

RECORD OF THE WEEK

They’re on tour at the moment, so how could it not be the incredible with their debut album ‘Dogrel’

Mega stuff this; I remember back in 2019 when this album launched, nothing sounded as fresh or as exciting, the lead single ‘Boys in the Better Land’ played everywhere after that, along with ‘Liberty Belle’; they cemented themselves as one of the most exciting Irish bands in a long time.

It’s a punk album really, it’s raw and angry but with such strong lyricism and with an eagerness and freshness that endears you to listen even more; they’re a band that are rare in the modern age; they’re originals!

For me the standout track is ‘Roy’s Tune’, all these years on it still sounds fresh and exciting, as good for a summers day as it ever has been, I challenge you not to be hooked after your first listen. We’ve got lots of Fontaines in stock too, it’s a rabbit hole you’ll be glad you went down!

Just some of the new stock in the record rack this week, find it under’This Just In’!

SWIPE POST

Just some of the instruments that have crossed the Chorus bench this week

1. Squier Custom Telecaster in for a jack repair

2. A real deal 1967 Fender Mustang Bass that’s in for some wiring, a setup and general recommissioning, keep an eye out for progress pics of this

3. Yamaha LL-TA Transcoustic; in for some fretwork, sharp edges rounded and polished; excellent guitars for the money with a real party trick in the form of its on board effects

4. 1987 Russian Balalaika! Not everyday you see one of these, in for tuning pegs and a tidy up, hard to get parts for but we’ll find a way!

A very varied week, keeping me on my toes which we always appreciate, keep them coming!

2007 Gibson Les Paul Studio - Worn Cherry

Got a belter here folks

Super resonant and lightweight example of an excellent Studio; these were the first and indeed last of the all Mahogany studios and they’re great workhorses, as this one is

Featuring factory fitted Burst Buckers, again a first in a Studio, they’re a great PAF style humbucker, vintage in output to deliver great cleans and crunches with nice definition, and wound up they do all that good Les Paul stuff; nice natural compression, super focused and clear.

This is chambered too, very resonant unplugged, almost semi hollow like; I like a full weight Les Paul as much (if not more) than the next man, but my back doesn’t; this does all the right stuff without you needing a visit to the chiropractor!

This one’s been used but not abused, it’s got lovely real playing wear, but importantly no breaks, and it has lots of life left in the frets It does have a bent tuner, and that is reflected in the price, it functions absolutely fine and wouldn’t bother me, but if it would bother you it’s an easy fix that can be done pre purchase.

A new Chinese made Epiphone can cost over £1200, this is a bargain at £685, comes with OHSC
