What a lovely evening we had at MALT Bar & Deli in Sherburn in Elmet!

This was our very first pottery painting evening at Malt and we absolutely loved it. 25 lovely customers joined us for a relaxed evening painting plates, bowls and mugs in such a beautiful venue.

A huge thank you to Clare, the owner of Malt, for inviting us and making us feel so welcome. Megan and Millie worked this one and both came back saying what a fabulous evening they’d had, so we’re already hoping this won’t be our last visit!

All those gorgeous creations are now heading back to The Painting Pot to be glazed and fired in our kiln, ready for their big reveal.

GOOD LUCK BACK AT SCHOOL!

And just like that… the summer holidays are over!

We’d like to wish all our little painters heading back to school this week a fantastic new term, whether you’re starting a brand-new school, moving up a year, or simply getting back into the swing of things.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who visited us over the school holidays and kept our little studio so wonderfully bustling, busy and full of creativity. We’ve loved seeing all your amazing pottery creations, happy faces and very painty tables!

We really hope you’ve enjoyed spending some of your summer with us.

And remember… going back to school doesn’t mean you have to wait until the next holidays to come and paint!

We’re open every Saturday and Sunday, and you can also pop in for some after-school painting during the week.

Then, before we know it… October half term will be here and the studio will be getting wonderfully spooky for HALLOWEEN!

We only announced our 15th October workshop a few days ago… and it’s already FULLY BOOKED! 🤯💗 These workshops have been ridiculously popular, so rather than disappoint everyone who missed out, we’ve added YET ANOTHER DATE!

And as it’s October half term, we’re absolutely encouraging some Halloween mischief this time… think witches’ hats, black cats, pumpkins, ghosts and spooky little characters alongside all your favourite cute foodie creations! 🧙‍♀️🐈‍⬛🎃

This is brilliant for older kids, teens AND adults — and judging by how quickly the last one disappeared, please don’t hang about if you want a place!

⚠️ All attendees must book, pay and take part – no spectators. Under 14s must attend with a fee-paying adult.

❤️ A HUGE THANK YOU ❤️

What an incredible few weeks we’ve had! The studio has been absolutely buzzing throughout the school holidays, and we honestly can’t thank you enough for keeping us so wonderfully busy.

It’s tough out there for small High Street businesses, so every visit, every booking, every recommendation and every bit of support really does mean the world to our little business. We’ve had a great summer, and that’s entirely down to YOU. 🥰

In fact, we’ve been so busy we’ve barely had time to photograph all the gorgeous pottery coming out of the kiln! So here’s just a little selection of some of the fabulous creations that have emerged over the last few days. 🎨🔥

Just a little reminder about our reduced opening hours whilst I’m on holiday this month … (apologies for any inconvenience this might cause).

A little September heads-up from The Painting Pot

I’m taking a bit of a break during September, so while I’m away the lovely team will be keeping the studio ticking over for me. To make sure everyone can cover the studio comfortably, we’ll be operating on slightly reduced hours on just a few dates.

Here are the changes:

Opening later
• Monday 7 September – opening at 3pm
• Friday 11 September - opening at 12:30pm

Closing early at 2.30pm
• Wednesday 9 September
• Wednesday 16 September
• Thursday 17 September
• Friday 18 September
• Wednesday 23 September

Closed all day
• Monday 21 September
• Thursday 24 September

Our usual Tuesday closures remain exactly the same, so we’ll be closed every Tuesday as normal.

And don’t forget, we’re open Sundays too, 10am–5pm!

Please do come and visit us during September and keep the team busy while I’m away! We’ll have loads of pottery shapes on the shelves, plenty to choose from for all ages, and our Halloween pottery will be in stock too.

Halloween pieces are always popular, so if you’ve got your eye on something spooky, come in early and get first pick before the favourites disappear!

At all other times throughout September we’ll be open as usual, and the team would genuinely love to see you.

I’m really sorry for any inconvenience the reduced hours may cause, and thank you so much for bearing with us. As a small independent business, occasionally I have to juggle things a little when I’m away, and I’m incredibly grateful to have such a lovely team keeping everything running in my absence.

So please pop in, paint something gorgeous, keep them busy… and make sure they’re far too occupied to miss me!

A little birthday shout-out to one of our absolute favourite customers… the lovely Roy!

Roy popped in to see us yesterday with his daughter Nikki, and we were genuinely so touched that he chose to spend part of his birthday with us at The Painting Pot.

He is such a lovely, kind-hearted gentleman and one of our biggest supporters and advocates. We always love seeing him in the studio, and yesterday he was busy painting this brilliant gnome and his fabulous little micro alien!

Roy, thank you for always cheering us on, supporting our little studio and being such a joy to have around. We won’t embarrass you by telling everyone how young you are 😉… but we hope you had the most wonderful birthday.

Please help yourself. They’re stacked next to my bin at the rear of the studio on New Lane, Selby. (You can access the area by car/van for loading).

HELLO AUTUMN… WREATH MAKING IS BACK!

Is there anything lovelier than the colours of autumn? Rich berries, gorgeous foliage, warm oranges, reds and golds… and turning it all into something beautiful for your front door.

NEW PLAY WITH CLAY WORKSHOP – FAIRY HOUSES!

Come and get your hands gloriously muddy and join Megan for a magical evening of clay, creativity and a little bit of fairy-tale fun!

On Monday 12th October at 6:30pm we’ll be creating our very own hand-built fairy houses – think tiny doors, wonky windows, toadstools, flowers, twisting vines and all the wonderfully whimsical little details you can dream up.

Absolutely no clay experience needed – this is a lovely beginners’ workshop where you can relax, play, squish, roll and create!

✨ Two-hour workshop
💗 £35 per person

Once your fairy house has been carefully dried and fired in our kiln, you’ll be invited back for a follow-up pottery painting session to decorate it in all its magical glory before it heads back into the kiln for its final firing.

A gorgeous little evening of escapism, creativity and getting your hands dirty. Who wouldn’t want their own tiny fairy house?

KILN UPDATE: IT’S STILL ALIVE… JUST.

Our poor little kiln has spent the entire weekend absolutely working its socks off and LOOK what has emerged!

Load after load after load of your gorgeous school-holiday pottery has been fired, cooled and unleashed back into the studio.

At this point the kiln is requesting:
☕ a strong coffee
🛏️ a lie down
🏖️ three weeks in the Maldives
…and absolutely NO MORE MUGS. 😂

Unfortunately, we’ve just shown it the next trolley.
