Welcome to 2026.

What's new from Niu Models.

First, the bad news:
After four years of holding our prices steady, we’ve made the difficult decision to review kit prices and apply some adjustments. Postage costs remain unchanged: all UK orders will continue to be sent Tracked & Signed, and all overseas orders will be sent International Tracked.
A quick note for our overseas customers: several countries now require a contact phone number for parcel delivery. Please include this when placing your order.

Now, the good news:
The online shop is open again, with most items available. The Sentinel Railcar, Gunsets Wagons, and Coastal Defence Train will be released in batches to help us manage demand. If you’d like to reserve one of these kits, just drop us an email and we’ll add you to the list of interested customers.

What OO Gauge kits are planned for 2026?
We’re starting the year with the LMS Independent Snowploughs, available at the end of January. These will be followed by three LNER engineering vehicle kits, released between February and April. We will round off June with the GWR Pollen‑E Wagon, to complete our range of Gunsets Wagons.

Behind the scenes, we’re also developing several additional kits for release in the second half of the year.

On-line store is open again.

After an extended holiday we are back and the store is open again.

For those who have pre-ordered the Sentinel Railcar, these kits will start going out at the weekend. Once all back orders have been fulfilled, as second batch will be made available.

We will be taking a break during September.

The website will remain open, but ordering will be suspended from from 25th August.

All orders placed prior to 25th August (with exception of the pre-ordered Sentinel Railcar) will processed and dispatched by 1st September.

The website ordering will reopen on 28th September.

For those who have pre-ordered the Sentinel Railcar kit, these will be posted out from 28th September onwards. A second batch will be released for ordering shortly afterwards.

New for July - LNER (Diagram 89) Sentinel Railcar.

The Sentinel Railcar has been a regular on our 'please can you make' list, and now it's is here, we hope we haven't disappointed.
This is our largest and most ambitious to date. As you can see from the photo below, the kit comes with all parts needed to assemble the model, requiring only a motor bogie from a Hornby from the Class 121 DUM model to complete.

Twenty Diagram 89 Railcars were built and delivered into service in 1928. The design followed the lines of earlier Sentinel Railcars, using a vertical boiler of the same design used on the LNER Y1 & Y3 shunter locos mounted onto a power bogie, with the passenger carriage attached through an articulated joint. The railcar carriage would seat 59 passengers with standing space for an additional 10 in the entry vestibule. The Diagram 89 Railcar works extensively across the north east region from Hull to Tyneside. Until being withdrawn 1946.

The Niu Models kit had been designed in 3D CAD using LNER drawings and reference photographs, and comes with Resin Chassis and Body parts, Metal wheels and NEM couplings.
The kit requires a Hornby X9634M/1 motor bogie unit from the Hornby R30193 Class 121 DMU Unit
