Today I had the honour of hosting a Lino printing activity with residents at a Shrewsbury residential care home.

The residents have varying levels of Dementia so today was about a sensorial experience - the hiss of the ink being rolled into the brayer, the tactile nature of burnishing a print by hand, and the satisfaction of the end result - brightly coloured greetings cards to give to their loved ones.

Many thanks to the activity goers, their relatives, and the staff for a packed hour of printing ❤️

My late father suffered with Dementia so this workshop was extremely close to my heart.
And I think he would have loved this particular activity.
Miss you so so much Dad.

Today I went “back to skool” and started a pottery course led by the experienced Fiona Gateway Gallery
She patiently showed me the classic entry level technique of pinch potting and using slip to glue things together - hopefully staying glued during the firing… it’s a world of discovery…

The Gateway has also kindly allowed me to display some of my prints, cards and jewellery in their reception area, so if you’re passing through this wonderful community space (attending a course or meeting, or sipping a coffee at their riverside cafe), and don’t have time to go shopping in the town centre, have a look at the fascinating objects available to purchase in the foyer cabinets - including for example some silver jewellery marvels from Shropshire Jewellery Workshops
Gateway Opening hours:
Mon-Thurs 9am - 4.30pm
Fri 9am - 4pm
Weekends closed (because it is run by the council)

I hope to see you at one of these fab markets which will be selling art, vintage, greetings cards and gifts - in Shrewsbury, Wrexham, Birmingham and possibly beyond …. (Waiting to hear back from another couple of markets)

Belonging for a weekend with 10,000 other glorious weirdos Manchester Psych Fest
Beautiful venues (including art nouveau O2 Apollo Manchester and the tiny The Deaf Institute), friendly strangers, colour, pattern, and some marvellously strange tunes.
I love being a weirdo.

Kompletely Kapoored…
Thank you Anish for playing with our senses and proprioception.
Our eyes needed a reset/refresh afterwards (second to last slide..).
Exhibition highlights for me are a giant blood red pvc mass squeezing into an entire floor of the Hayward Gallery, and “black hole” works using the darkest black known on the planet - Vanta black.

(Vantablack is a super-black coating invented by Surrey NanoSystems that absorbs up to 99.965% of visible light. The name Vanta stands for Vertically Aligned Nano Tube Array!)

I really enjoyed this fund raising afternoon for the charity “Prema Clay” held at the magical home and garden of Pippa Price

There were cakes and coffee, live music, a plant sale, a craft sale, a raffle with artwork and workshops donated by Sarah Kowenicki Lucy Caddel | Artist Megan Ward Caris Jackson and others , and a “try out clay” area with one of the founders of Prema Clay Katharine Morling

Prema Clay is a CIC which gives vulnerable groups the opportunity to express themselves and their feelings through working with clay, in an inclusive and supportive environment.

They are doing REALLY good things. If you want to know more about this charity then DM Katharine.

This afternoon has restored my faith in humans

Me myself and I on the Barrow today Shrewsbury Market Hall (Sat 29th August til 4pm).
Tees, Prints, Badges, Bags, Teatowels, Cards…. You name it, this barrow is stuffed full of colour in a gloomy weather day!

4 reasons to visit Shrewsbury Market Hall this bank holiday Saturday 29.08.26

1. Independant traders, creatives, food and drink can be found here on 2 levels.

2. It’s the last day of the fabulous Town in a Tin exhibition (3rd/top floor, above the public loos)

3. I’ll be selling gifts and cards at “the barrow” (2nd floor, gallery level, underneath the exhibition) 10-4pm

4. It will probably rain at some point - take shelter in this iconic 60s building
