Morning! It’s been a busy start to the month, so I’m a little late but here is August’s Song of Solidarity, Resistance and Rebellion. August is a time where many countries across the world celebrate their independence from Britain, Jamaica being one of them.
I’ve wanted to include Bob Marley for a long time, but have just been waiting for the right moment. I saw the Wailers last year at BoomTown and this song made me cry.
It makes me feel connected to my Jamaican heritage, and to me speaks to a quiet persistence, and a call to unity. Singing together is something I think we should do more of, I get to sing tonight on stage with The Burning Glass and more often than not the crowd sings with us, and it’s moments like that that I treasure. An easy togetherness making moments of beauty and a reminder of our humanity. If you’d like to join the club for next month you can by going to our website.
