That’s how a floor should be looking when opening your living room door!!

Here’s a job we completed late May & what a great transformation it was, underneath the carpet hid a beautiful original pine floor crying out to be restored.

This pine floor like many others has a Bitumen border that really does take some work to remove but we managed to reveal what was underneath this toxic bitumen starting with a cross grain sand using a 24grit sandpaper we removed all the bitumen and levelled out the boards. Working our way through the grits to finish on a 180grit sandpaper it was time to buff this floor using 240grit sandpaper to get the boards FLAWLESS!

Now time for the full cleaning process from top to bottom including all walls and skirtings and everything inbetween, we completed the clean by giving the floor a full hoover to makesure the floor was like glass ready for varnishing.

Using a Bona Mega Clear SilkMatt Varnish we applied three heavy coats of varnish making sure to denib in between coats to really makesure this floor was looking and feeling great! And that’s job complete!

Here’s one we completed a few weeks ago, so this client reached out to us through a recommendation which is always great! Asking if we could get these floors transformed in a short period of time with a deadline and we jumped at the task….

So we quickly established that there was a lot of replacement boards that had been previously completed and wasn’t a good match we advised the client on this and they was happy to leave them as they are as this property is just a stop gap for the next few years and didn’t want to go into the job in to much detail, we will always advise but at the end of the day it’s not our property!

So once the initial survey was completed we got straight to work, starting the sanding process with a 24grit to remove that orange stain off of the floor and remove all scratches and indentations working through the grits to finish on a 180grit paper.

We then cleaned out each and every gap to give these boards the finish they deserved without having loads of WHITE MASTIC inbetween the boards!

After that it was time for the final finishing and buffing sand using 240grit pads to really get this floor ready for the varnishing stage!

Varnishing consisted of X3 coats of Bona Mega Matt Varnish with a finishing sand in between each coat to make this floor smooth and clean to withstand any foot traffic thrown at it, and that’s how we restore a floor….

“We don’t want any signs of Orange”

Those were the exact words this client said to us when quoting on this job, so let’s go through the process and explain how we achieved it while making sure the finish was ready to withstand the use of this bedroom with a twist 🛁….

So we started the process by getting the repairs completed which were very minor but never the less necessary, once again pulled through! I bet you can’t notice which boards are replacements?? Once we had those completed we started sanding process with a 24grit cross grain sand from corner to corner to level out the playing field. Working our way through the grits to finish the main sanding process on a 180grit!

Then we moved onto the finishing sanding process starting with a 120grit and working through to a 240grit to makesure we was achieving the most out of this lovely Baltic Pine Floor.

After the full cleaning process from top to bottom (One of the most important parts of the job) it was time to get this floor sealed! Priming the floor with Bona Natural Primer to stay away from the traditional pine finish, then moving onto X3 top coats of Bona Traffic HD RAW, this was the only product that come to mind for this job reason being it doesn’t add any colour to the boards and it’s able to stand up to any traffic this floor is going to be exposed to including wet feet from the Free standing Bath that is going into the bay window 😍 🛁.

After that was all done we stood back and admired this beautiful floor and what we had achieved.

Here is the result of a full restoration, including full sanding process, full gap filling process, full concrete hearth replacement, full woodworm treatment of all areas and full varnishing process.

We started the process by repairing and replacing multiple floorboards across the house and replacement of two concrete hearths supplied by the best in the game with an identical match for this floor. Once we completed the full sanding process, it was time to get this boards gap filled using a flexible wood acrylic, making life easier in the future to keep this floor looking clean and fresh!

It was then time to complete the full woodworm treatment across all areas to makesure that the beauty of these floorboards isn’t literally eaten away! Letting that dry and cure it was then time to complete the full varnishing process using Bona Traffic HD Raw to keep the floor protected to its maximum strength and not adding any orange tones to the floorboards.

And that’s how you achieve a RAW Ultra Matt Finish!! So this job was an absolute pleasure & real game changer of a finish, the client contacted us wanting to restore this beautiful living room Oak floor as it was looking worn and dated with a Orange finish which had been really put through it paces and we was up to the task!

Once we worked through the grits to finish the main sanding process on a 180 Grit sandpaper.

Then we moved onto the finishing / buffing sand process working through to a 240grit to really get this floor ready for the varnishing stage!

This really was one of our favourite jobs to date.

Let’s explain what happened here, so the property owner contacted us as they wasn’t happy with the current contractor who was working on their floor and rightly so!!

The previous contractor had made a real mess of this lovely floor and had told the homeowner that this floor was ready for the finishing stage (LOOK AT THE PICTURES) the floor was lucky to be at the 60grit stage & was no where near ready for the staining and varnishing stage.

So after contacting us they promptly asked the contractor to leave the job as they could clearly see the difference between how the floor was looking and how the floor should be looking, time to call in .

After a pre site survey we determined that the floor was at best the 60grit stage so starting at an 80 grit we worked through the grits to finish on a 240grit buffing pad, the results just speak for themselves!!

The Client wanted a real one off bespoke finish which the previous contractor couldn’t achieve, again with careful preparation we achieved the Exact finish they wanted and we was over the moon with the result!! It’s just absolutely beautiful and fits this penthouse apartment perfect!!!

Remember always be careful when choosing your flooring contractor as there is always a clear difference between someone who has a trade and someone who offers a service! We will always make sure that we achieve the most out of your floor and get the finish you deserve.

Here’s a version of a classic Pine floor restoration;

This floor was in desperate need of restoring as it was really showing signs of wear & tear and was just crying out to be restored.

Before we started any sanding we gave the floor a survey and completed a few minor repairs to makesure this floor was solid and safe.
We started the sanding process with a 24 grit sandpaper to remove all of the scratches and indentations out of the wood, working through the grits to finish on a 180grit to really get the most out of this living room floor!

After the main sanding process was complete we give the floor a final finishing and buffing sand too make it ready for the full varnishing process but first it was time for the full cleaning process of the room, from top to bottom! DO NOT BELIEVE ANYONE THAT TELLS YOU THERE IS DUST FREE SANDING!! Once the room was cleaned THEN the area becomes dust free!

The client wanted to step away from any orange looking finish, so we finished this floor with X3 coats of Bona Mega Matt Clear Varnish, while sanding inbetween coats to give this floor a lovely natural finish.

JOB DONE 👍

It’s always a pleasure to work on such a together original Baltic Pine floor. What we mean by tighter is untouched, with minimal damage and cuts!

This client contacted us wanting to get the upstairs of their property completed to match the downstairs they previously had done. And we was more than happy to fulfil their wish!

Starting the sanding process with a 24grit sandpaper across all areas and working through to a 180git sandpaper we revealed the natural grain of this beautiful floor once thy was completed we went into the finishing & buffing process and this floor was ready to be finished with a lovely Clear Matt Varnish, and the results speak for themselves.

Stairs are always a daunting task for any floor sander, one of our team was on these stairs for three consecutive days to make them a beautiful feature for the property while keeping the pine finish across all areas and I’d say he done a brilliant job in removing all of the lead based paint and really making these stairs a true talking point! Once the client see how well they come back they wished to have them finished with a matching finish instead of painting the sides ready for a runner, so all the hard work paid off!!

Always a pleasure to work on such a beautiful floor and for a great client.

Here’s a great transformation from a couple of weeks back. This flats pine floor was in desperate need of a restoration, so we started by getting all of repairs and replacements completed to give us a solid floor to start the sanding process.

Starting with a 24grit to remove all of the exsisting finish that was hidden underneath all of the paint and plaster dust we exposed a lovely Pine floor but not without its issues, once we completed the first sand we noticed that there was a pretty bad case of woodworm infestation that needed addressing, so it was time for the full woodworm treatment once the sanding was said and done.

Leaving overnight we returned the following day to out a lovely clear natural Matt varnish on the floor to really bring out the beauty of the grain while still having that neutral tone to it after three coats of varnish and a demon sand in between coats this floor was ready to lived on for many years to come.

This is one of the best transformations we have completed this year!!!!

So let’s get into it, the client contacted us explaining that they have purchased a 1st floor flat and are absolutely set on having a pine floor but have concerns regarding noise and temperatures of the property! And asked is there any options to make this work!!!

And of course we can work something out. Having a pre site survey we established that the existing loft board was sitting on a subfloor which was a floating floor sitting on a concrete base, so the client really wanted all the boards running in the same direction with minimal cuts and no noise for the neighbour downstairs.

Once we removed all of the loft board it was a case of installing a new subfloor so that the boards can run in the same direction so that was the first stage, next it was time to install the insulation and get this floor warm and air tight. Using a specialist Acoustic Insulation this floor was insulated and noise free for the neighbour downstairs, now time to lay the pine floorboards supplied by we always say it but are just the BEST giving them the measurements and the numbers we had to play with not having to remove the skirting the pulled through once again with a 220mm wide replaned floorboard I mean seriously can you get any better for a service and quality!!

We had the subfloor rebuilt, the insulation in place and the pine floorboards down and ready to be sanded and finished, after 12 different samples the client opted to go for a light oak stain it really was a difficult decision for the client as they really wanted it to look right keeping the character of the boards and setting a dark tone for the floor to match the rest of the flat that is due to be redecorated.

After two coats of a light oak stain applied by hand and full buffing process this floor was ready to be sealed with the full varnishing process and that was 10days work completed and the flat transformed!!

Here is another great transformation we have completed recently, it’s a pitch pine floor that had never been sanded and really was crying out for a restoration.

So its something we see on a regular basis, the only thing that’s been touched on this floor was where previous tradesman have cut the floorboards (Electricians & Plumbers 😡) but once we completed the repairs it was time for sanding!

We started the sanding process using a 24grit sandpaper to reveal the raw wood to give us a good first cut ready to start working through the grits to get this floor like glass!! Before the final finishing and buffing sand we removed all of the dirt / debris removed from between the boards so it’s a clean crisp look!

Then it was time for the finishing stage, by sealing the floor with X3 coats of Bona Traffic HD ready for family life with the children and pets!! Always know what finish is going to work best for your property.
