I start 6 weeks radiotherapy and chemotherapy on Tuesday 22 September at The Freeman in Newcastle. The centre of cancer excellence. Sometime soon, not too soon I hope as I'm dreading it, I'll stay in Sunderland Hospital overnight to have a tummy feeding tube fitted. It's all very real now 🥺

I hope all the gogo'ers team Events2gogo had a great day at Nissan today and have a fab Bank Hol Witton Castle tomorrow. I was so happy at both this time last year, was fit and well, tossed myself around on lots of rides at Nissan and danced down by the stage at the bands, Witton was red hot, jeez, boiling hot, best sales day there ever as well 🤪 You just never know what is around the corner. I never had cancer on 2026's bingo card taking me out of action from what I truly love doing🥺

Today I had the start of dental treatment needed before my cancer treatment can proceed, two extractions. It wasn't pleasant but I'm actually thrilled with my new front tooth. The old crown never looked right, it was too big and the wrong colour. The new one looks so much better!

So... the good news. It's throat cancer. It has not spread. It can be treated, I can recover. Bad news. It is agressive...

So... the good news. It's throat cancer. It has not spread. It can be treated, I can recover. Bad news. It is agressive, a tumour in my mouth that's growing inwards, too large for surgery as an option. In 6-8 weeks time intensive radio and chemotherapy for 6 weeks - ish, one or both at Freeman, we both missed that bit, it was a lot to take in. In meantime dental work as that could effect treatment. I'll also be fitted with a feeding tube in my tummy before treatment starts. I'm basically in for a truly s**t few months October onwards, chemo sounds particularly gruesome. Oh, I won't lose my hair. All in all, could be worse 💁

Although I see my cancer consultant on Friday, obviously a treatment plan still won't have happened, so we proceed as planned, returning here on Saturday, which is also my birthday! We had an amazing time last year and this year Poppy can come (she was in heat!) and better win at least one rosette, I fancy her chances for 'dog with the waggiest tail'!
