Sometimes admin is actually quite enjoyable when you’ve got a beautiful system to put everything in…

…and a very committed assistant who contributes absolutely nothing, sleeps through every meeting and somehow still expects payment in treats. 🐾😂

Teddy’s role in Fern Dale appears to be:
supervise,
nap,
occasionally reposition himself directly where I need to sit,
and provide emotional support during excessive amounts of admin.

In fairness, he’s very good at it.

There’s something oddly satisfying about getting all the plans, ideas and moving parts out of my head and into one place - especially with this little face beside me while I do it.

Small business life: part making, part admin, part wondering how the dog has managed to become middle management.

I have news… apparently we’re finalists. 🐾😂

Fern Dale Rituals has officially qualified as a 2026 finalist in the UK Small Business Awards in the Best Home Based Business category.

I’m keeping my feet firmly on the ground because this is the finalist stage and the judging comes next - but I’m still really pleased that my application made it through.

Fern Dale has been built from home, around the rest of life, with a lot of making, testing, learning, changing things and trying again.

So I’m very happy to enjoy this little moment.

My assistant appears significantly less impressed. 🤣

Now we wait and see what happens next… 🤍

I’ve been quietly working on this for months and I can finally show you properly… 12 Days of Fern Dale is now open for preorders. 🌿

This isn’t a traditional Advent calendar filled with tiny samples.

It’s twelve individually wrapped gifts and rituals, ready to open one by one from 1st December - bringing together home fragrance, full-size skincare, body rituals, seasonal pieces and a few things created especially for this collection.

Some will feel familiar.
Some are completely seasonal.
And a few are staying firmly under wraps. 👀

The contents are worth over £110, with the full collection available for £79, and because so much of it is made, filled, finished and wrapped by me, there are only a limited number available.
