Live Review: The Polygons – Ones to Watch at Tonbridge Music Weekend
There’s something undeniably infectious about The Polygons. Four young mates with charm, talent, and a clear love for what they do, they lit up the stage at Tonbridge Music Weekend with their upbeat pop/indie set – and it wasn’t long before the crowd was right there with them.
From the first chord, it was clear this band know how to work a festival audience. Their energy was magnetic, and so was the chemistry between them – something you can’t fake. Whether it was through catchy hooks, slick guitar lines, or cheeky in-between-song banter (when we could hear it), The Polygons quickly won over the afternoon crowd. By the second track, even the most reluctant toe-tappers were dancing, and by the final chorus, they had the whole place singing along.
Their sound blends the feel-good flavour of early 2010s indie with polished pop sensibilities, striking a balance that feels both nostalgic and fresh. You get the sense that with the right platform – and a bit of polish on the technical side – these boys could be huge. If there’s one note to make, it’s this: a dedicated sound engineer would do them wonders. At times, the lead vocals and crowd patter got a bit lost in the mix, slightly blunting their full impact.
Still, the talent is unmistakable. The Polygons are a band you root for. They’ve got the songs, the style, and that intangible spark that makes you think: I saw them before they made it big.
