🎨 I'm so excited to share the details of our upcoming art exhibition!

If you're local, I'd absolutely love it if you could pop along and support this wonderful event.

I'm also incredibly touched and honoured that my painting was one of the ones chosen for the exhibition poster. It was such a lovely surprise, and I'm so grateful to my tutor, Neil, for featuring my artwork to help promote the exhibition.

The exhibition will showcase original artwork inspired by beautiful St Agnes, created by artists from our Painting for Beginners class. Better still, all profits will go towards supporting the Miners and Mechanics Institute (MMI), a place that's so important to our local community.

🎟️ Free Admission

There will be lots of original artwork available, all at heavily discounted prices, so it's a great opportunity to find something special while supporting a fantastic cause.

✨ My latest oil painting... Wheal Coates, St Agnes! ✨

I'm so excited to finally share my latest painting with you all! 💙

This is Wheal Coates in St Agnes, one of Cornwall's most iconic landmarks, and I have absolutely loved the challenge of painting it in oils. The part I enjoyed the most was creating the star-filled night sky with the Aurora Borealis dancing behind the mine. There's something so magical about the colours and the feeling of looking up at a clear Cornish night sky.

This original painting will be in a charity exhibition, where it will be sold to raise money for the MMI in St Agnes. I'll let you know the details nearer the time.

As much as I'll be sad to see the original go, I'm incredibly proud of how this one turned out, so I'll be having limited edition prints and greeting cards made so that a little piece of it can live on.

It's amazing to look back and see how much I've learned over the last couple of years. Every painting teaches me something new, and this one really pushed me out of my comfort zone. I think that's why it means so much to me.

I’ve been working on this seascape for a while and it has definitely challenged me! The storm clouds and sky colours were such a struggle to get right, but I’ve learned so much while painting it.

This is only my second attempt using oils, layered over an acrylic underpainting, and I’m really pleased with how the movement in the waves has turned out — especially the front wave 🌊

I’m incredibly lucky to have such an encouraging art tutor who keeps pushing me to believe in myself and my artwork a little more each week 😊

Art really is a journey… and I’m loving learning more with every painting 💙

Today I finally handed over this very special commissioned portrait to my lovely friend Vicky ❤️

The portrait is of her beautiful sister Katie, who sadly passed away in 2020 far too young. It was painted as a tribute to her and has honestly been one of the most emotional pieces I’ve ever worked on.

I actually finished the portrait back in February, but with house moves and life getting in the way, getting the painting to Vicky took much longer than planned.

Talking to Vicky throughout the process and seeing the many photos she sent me, I could really see how deeply loved and remembered Katie still is ❤️

One moment that really stayed with me was when the Sky engineer came to set up my TV after I moved house. He looked at the painting and immediately asked, “Is that Katie?” It completely took me by surprise that he recognised her instantly, and for a moment it stopped that little doubting voice in my head wondering whether I’d captured her likeness well enough from the photos. But more than that, it really showed just how much Katie is still talked about and remembered by the people who knew her ❤️

Today there were definitely a few tears shed, but thankfully happy tears too, because Vicky was so pleased with how her sister’s portrait turned out — and her message afterwards saying she couldn’t believe how much I’d captured Katie’s likeness honestly meant the world to me.

It’s always an honour to be trusted with something so personal and meaningful ❤️

After drawing Jacob last week, I just had to draw Joe too ❤️

It’s taken me days of tweaking and changing tiny little details because I always seem to find something else I want to improve 😂 But this evening, I finally looked at it and could properly recognise my handsome boy looking back at me.

I really do love working with charcoal, even if it means ending up covered in smudges from head to toe! 😅

It still amazes me sometimes that I discovered this passion for art only 4 years ago. I’m so grateful for the journey it’s taking me on ❤️

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared anything on here, so I thought I’d pop back with something quite personal 💛

The sketch on the bottom left is one I did around 4 years ago of Jacob. At the time, I had no idea I could draw at all… but when I finished it, I remember thinking “that’s actually him.” That moment made me realise there might be a little artist in me after all.

Fast forward to today, and the portrait on the bottom right is the charcoal piece I’ve just completed at art class. The brief was to create something connected to a memory that shaped who we are… (apparently not meant to be a head and shoulders portrait 😄), but I couldn’t help myself. Drawing Jacob again just felt right.

I’ve absolutely loved working on this piece, and the best part is—he’s asked if he can have it in his room 😍

Life has been a bit hectic lately with the house move and everything that comes with it, so my art has taken a slight back seat. But my art room is nearly there now, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into a rhythm and sharing more with you all again soon.

I also have a special portrait ready to go to its new home (finally!)—it’s been delayed with illness and appointments, but fingers crossed I can deliver it next Tuesday 🤞 I can’t wait to share that one with you when the time is right.
