Belated Happy New Year from www.jamesbondfirsteditions.co.uk! After a busy time before Christmas I've been working hard to hunt down and replenish my stock of only the best Bond first editions. Just gone up are some exquisite condition examples of Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Oc*****sy and The Man With The Golden Gun. Oc*****sy is fine, unread and features the rarer 10s 6d jacket. The Man With The Golden Gun is amongst the best I've seen. As new as the day it was published. A real find!

April was Jonathan Cape's preferred month for publishing a new James Bond book. But no date is as important as today's. On April 13th 1953 Casino Royale appeared. And what a debut! Happy . It's easy to forget books are there to be read. My most recently-thumbed Bond is this old, torn, barely held together tome, but it's my go-to comfort book (and will be for as long as it holds up). Keep your perfect 1st editions for best, sure, but don't forget why you fell in love with reading James Bond in the first place!

What recession? This first edition of Casino Royale sold at auction today for a hammer price of £29,000 - or £36,500 when you include commission. I'd need quite a few sofas to find that sort of money down the sides!
