Part 2: controversial opinion 👆 Hear me out…
With 20 years designing clothes for high street retailers, I’ve seen where clothing is made, who makes it, and where the real cost of fast fashion lies.
I wrote my dissertation on fast fashion 25 years ago, when Zara was beginning to move away from the traditional four-season model towards 12 drops a year. Since then, that cycle has accelerated dramatically — and many retailers have followed.
That’s part one of why I’m so passionate about investing in quality.
But as a Personal Stylist, it goes further than that.
I want you to feel amazing every time you get dressed — and confident every time you part with your hard-earned money. That comes down to cut, fabric, fit and longevity.
The problem is, we’re stuck in a cycle.
Retailers supply what we demand. If we keep buying cheap, low-quality, poorly cut, mass-produced clothing, they’ll keep making it. If we start demanding better fabrics, better construction and pieces that last, retailers have to respond.
We vote with our £.
And this is where I see another problem. So many women reach 35+ and suddenly feel they don’t know where to shop anymore. The gap in the market is getting wider.
As your Personal Stylist, my job is to cut through that noise and find reputable brands that care about the clothes they make — across a range of budgets.
Let’s talk about where you could be shopping instead. x
