There are several exciting events to celebrate today - Ventnor Carnival parade and Ventnor Pirate Festival to name but two - but we had to honour the rarest, the solar eclipse. 🌞🌓🌚 Here’s a selection of shop goodies which contain the sun or moon or both… tarot and oracle cards, artwork, handmade cards, gemstones, charms and jewellery including moonstone of course.
I was living on the Isle of Mull during the last major (total) solar eclipse and viewing involved a piece of card and a baking tray, possibly full of water? Whatever you’re doing, stay safe! 👀

Absolutely thrilled to have these squishy squashy cephalopods in the shop. They’re cuddly, they’re cute, but most importantly, they are CE tested and have labelling to confirm this. They are not suitable for tiny children (ages 0 to 3) but make safe toys, comforters or best friends for a child over the age of three. Thank you Jules Fox for entrusting us with these adorable octopuppies. They cost £27.50 each. 🐙

Introducing a fabulous new product that we hope you’ll love. Angel Lucky Dips. At £6.50 each they are our priciest lucky dips but they are also the best value in terms of price paid vs. contents. Each Lucky Dip contains a gemstone angel necklace (with cord or chain), an angel charm, a gemstone heart and an angel oracle card. These would make brilliant presents for a friend or just a little boost for yourself if need one. Some examples of contents are shown. 🥰

Hurrah! It’s Day One of Ventnor Carnival week. We’ve added a little something we don’t normally sell to the window as part of the window spot competition and for their “Glitz and Glamour” theme we present a “posh pink pirate.” You can tell she’s posh because she’s got a flamingo instead of a parrot. 😉 She is bedecked in jewels and accompanied by some ocean friends. We hope you like her. 🩷

We have some beautiful new ceramic pieces in the shop from MLD pottery.. Check out these gorgeous glazes, so organic and gorgeous … like Mother Nature’s birds’ eggs or mosses in a forest…. no two pieces the same. Hand thrown and sturdy enough for everyday use, they would also be ideal for special occasions. Just don’t hide them in a cupboard. Make sure they can be seen and admired. 🤩

The most perfect gemstone dice have arrived. Delightful little cubes of 16 x 16 x 16mm polished stones with gold coloured pips. We did check and, yes, the opposing sides add up to seven. What colour would you choose? Green is traditionally the colour of good luck so maybe the aventurine? ✅

The official birthstone of August is peridot, the only gemstone in the world that comes in a single colour. 💚 Here are a few real peridot pieces and some “the same colour as peridot” Swarovski and cubic zirconia items we have at the moment. There will be more soon. BTW if you’re not sure how to pronounce August’s birthstone, both “per-ee-doe” and “per-ee-dot” are perfectly fine. 💚

As a spirit animal or guide the spider represents creativity, patience and the ability to create (weave) your own future. 😍 Brand new in stock is this stunning glass spider. Even if you don’t like them you’ve got to admit it’s a beautiful little piece of art. We also have fabulous jewellery from Alchemy England, hand crocheted fuzzy spiders and one with a silly smile, a handmade brooch, charms, beaded earrings by Lola M Tyrer, sterling silver studs and a gorgeous labradorite carving of a spider in a web. 🕷️

We’re thinking cooling thoughts with some very cool items for sale in the shop. Check out these fabulous, one-off greetings cards handmade by Jo Byrne in Cowes. Hand painted backgrounds embellished with stitching… these remind me of a weather chart or maybe Hokusai’s famous Great Wave woodblock print. They’re just beautiful and full of energy. 🌊
We’ve also got lots of gemstones, jewellery, crocheted critters and charms in all shades of blue. 💙

Not to be dramatic or anything but we’ve been feeling a bit “Gothic” today. 😉 It’s the last day of Ventnor Fringe and it’s been a fabulous nine days for the whole town. And now it’s practically over for another year.
I have finally got around to sorting out my latest order from Alchemy England and amending existing prices. Unfortunately, due to rising costs, the company has had to increase prices across their jewellery range. But remember what you’re paying for - finest quality English pewter, handmade in England, with an excellent guarantee. Adorned with Austrian Swarovski crystals, enamel and semi-precious stones, Alchemy Gothic jewellery has blazed a trail since 1977, creating imaginative pieces for those who prefer an alternative, somewhat darker aesthetic. Their range changes frequently and you’ll find some great bargains in the shop on some of their retired pieces. For now, here’s a selection of new, exciting pieces and some old faves. 🖤
