Victorian-era British Army button of the School of Musketry.
This was formed in 1853 and was renamed the Small Arms School in 1919. In 1929, it became the Small Arms School Corps.

It is 21.5mm high, made from White Metal and has 2 lugs on the back to accept a split pin.

Royal Marines Officer's button 1802-1818
To put this into a historical perspective, this design of button was used by Marines during the Napoleonic Wars, the War of 1812, the Battle of Bladensburg (Maryland) and the Burning of Washington in 1814.

- The button is over 200 years old, and the gilt is still in pristine condition - amazing for its age
- Flat with an open back
- Ornate maker's backmark - Hammond, Turner & Dickinson
- 20.5mm diameter
The British Marines were formed in 1664, and were granted the title 'Royal' in 1802. Around 1818, the design changed and a crown was added above the anchor on the button.
