WELL DONE to the amazing Friends of the River Wye and their river guardians who have worked tirelessly to bring into being the River Rights Charter to protect the Wye as a living eco system worthy of respect and a legal voice. This has been endorsed by councils, campaigners and environmental groups from England and Wales, making the Wye the first river in the UK to be given cross-border rights covering it from source to sea.

The charter gives the River Wye a number of rights "intended to guide the long-term protection and recovery of the river and its catchment."

The right to flow and perform natural functions
The right to biodiversity
The right to be free from pollution
The right to be supported by a healthy catchment
The right to regenerate
The right to representation

"We hope this raises people's awareness that the river has a right to be respected...Imagine if the Severn did it, then the Avon, then the Thames. If every river did this, then surely the constitutional change to consider the rights of nature is at least possible”.

Well Dressing is a long-established Derbyshire tradition where volunteers from local communities create floral mosaics around village wells. It's a wondrous blend of art and nature to celebrate the life-giving waters. This year the folk of Etwall have created something a little bit different and pretty special ... Well Done to all the volunteers who put in so many long hours to make this fabulous piece.

This well dressing in Etwall took 36 volunteers more than 320 hours to complete!

Rice, catkins, petals and lentils are among some of the things used to create it.

'... we are nature
we just can't feel it most of the time
the story of separation is still to strong
the wound in us too deep and huge

in some moments we get a glimpse
all of a sudden it is all there
we feel the unity - endless and timeless...'
