We’ve always got time for opals, especially in October, as it’s this month’s birthstone. This eye-catching necklace was handmade using fabulous blue opal rondelles, Miyuki seed beads and sterling silver findings. The fancy bolt ring clasp supports a dyed quartz pendant which complements the beads perfectly. The pendant can, however, be removed and worn on a chain or cord if you like. 🩵

The shop is shut Thursday 15 October but open on the dates listed. Artemis and Unicorn Man will be round the other side of the planet until mid-November but all the fabulous girls on the team will be about to help on some or other days. I won’t be responding to phone calls or texts but should be able to reply to WhatsApp messages, Facebook and Instagram messages and emails, albeit somewhat sporadically.

It’s Spooky Sunday. Boo! We’ve got a fabulous lantern in the shop, hand finished by Julie Bridger. It’s creepy and it’s kooky, mysterious and spooky…” Loads of Halloween themed detail such as a skeleton, spiders, candles and battery operated tealights. Hand painted in black with blood red accents, this one-off lantern is ideal for October 31st, as well as the rest of the year. It’s £29.50 and there’s only one.

We have some amazing pieces for sale in the shop. But, tbf, we also have some right old s**t. No. Seriously. This is *really* old s**t. 😉 Around 350 million years old and possibly from the prehistoric lobe-finned fish Megalichthys. This ancient Scottish fossil has been cut and polished and is beautifully pyritized.

Sorry that posts have been rather sporadic of late. It ain’t gonna get better anytime soon!!! 🤣 Halfway through refreshing the Mermaid window so here are some progress pics. This is Ben. Ben has very exacting taste in gemstones and crystals. Ben likes to spend ALL his money on shiny rocks! Ben came in on Sunday and spotted this shamanic quartz dragon (which I didn’t get a decent photo of). It was very expensive even with a bit of discount. He’d saved lots of money to make a purchase but his mum and I agreed he should take a few days to consider his choice. I mean, what if he spotted something else amazing, and couldn’t then buy it because he’d spent all his money?! Off they went and yesterday Ben came back in with a big grin saying he definitely wanted the dragon. Another fabulous lad who proved he can save up for a significant purchase and make big decisions about budgeting. We are impressed. ☺️

This morning we paid our respects to Carl as he passed by on his final journey. Ventnor is full of “characters” and Carl was most definitely one of them. He totally carried off that glitzy Alchemy England necklace he bought from us a while ago. Linda wanted a “blingy skull brooch” to wear on the day of the funeral and here’s what we came up with and gifted to her. A 3D printed skull with a flat back, slathered in glitter with beaded eyes and painted teeth, attached to a brooch back. I think he would have approved. 💀

It’s Halloween month so we’ll be sharing some spooky makes with you during October. How about these beautiful crystal (glass) bats on a fully beaded string? Spookily sparkly sky puppies! For all year round of course, not just for Halloween. These are £16.50 each or, if you want to string up a bat yourself or just have one as a little collectable they are £7.50 unstrung.
