⏰Verwood Book Fair is tomorrow, Saturday 23rd May! See you from 9-12.30 tomorrow at Verwood Memorial Hall!⏰

In the run-up to our event, we're telling you all about our amazing stallholders. We have a mix of indie authors, book sellers and other bookish businesses to tell you about!

Today we're telling you about T. C. Emerys. T. C. Emerys is a fantasy writer and founder of April Showers Publishing, a Dorset-based micropublisher which produces novels, zines and periodicals. Her debut novel Sky of Ancient Fire was published in 2023. Her work is informed by her love of mythology and nature, and by her experiences with chronic pain.

"My book Hollow Fate: A Collection of Poetry about the Women of British Mythology launches at the Verwood Book Fair on 23rd May! This book takes ten often overlooked women from British mythology to retell the stories from their perspectives."

Today we're telling you about the book 'A Boy Called Arsenal'. Both the author and the titular Arsenal are based in Dorset, and together they visit schools, businesses, and NHS organisations to help people gain a better understanding of autism.

"Arsenal’s Autism Talk is now part of the programmes at Bournemouth University and Southampton Solent University, where he speaks to first-year psychology students. Our book is now on its eighth print run and has reached number 1 on Amazon."

πŸ“– WHAT TO BRING TO THE BOOK FAIR πŸ“–

- Bags to carry all of your books home with you! Or you can purchase one of our lovely Verwood tote bags on the day for Β£5 or Β£4 when you buy any of our secondhand books. 50% of the profit goes to our fundraising projects.
- Cash - we would encourage you to bring cash (particularly coins) for the secondhand book stall and for those sellers who may not have a card machine. There is a cash point across the road from the venue at Tesco Express.
- A list - go through our social media posts and make a list of all the fantastic stalls you want to visit!
- Friends and family - have loved ones visiting for the bank holiday weekend? Bring them along! We have a wide variety of stalls including children's books.

Let us introduce Ryan Hamshaw! Ryan is a Wiltshire-based, award-winning author writing LGBTQ+ inclusive stories, best known for the popular YA urban fantasy series Keepers of the Crossing.

Words for Wellbeing writing workshops offer a gentle and welcoming space for people to pause and reflect and discover how to use writing as a practical tool for self-care and personal development.

"My Words for Wellbeing workshops offer a warm, supportive and friendly space to slow down and connect with the inner self through simple guided writing exercises. No experience is needed. It’s not about spelling, grammar or β€˜being a writer’ but is about using words as a gentle tool for self-care and reflection. Each workshop is designed to help participants relax, gain fresh perspectives and nurture their sense of wellbeing. Workshops are held in-person and online."
