At last we have reached Christmas week.On Christmas Day the colour of the candle, lit in many churches, changes to white. As promised, we explain this in our recent blog about the different ways Christmas is celebrated in varying cultures around the world.

However you are celebrating Christmas this year, the entire Oasis family would like send you our very best wishes and greetings. Your support over the past year has been both heartwarming, and invaluable in helping us continue with our mission of keeping God's presence on the high street alive. Thank you.

Fourth Week of Advent



The coming Sunday is the fourth in Advent when, traditionally, thoughts turn to love; it's when we're invited to contemplate the extent, the depth and the absolute perfection of God’s love as revealed through the gift of His Son. The colour of the candle, lit in many churches, reverts this week to purple, but that's not the end of the candle story; we'll cover the final chapter next week...

Celebrating the Second Week of Advent.

Sunday is the second in Advent, when the traditional focus is on faith, peace, and preparing our hearts for the arrival of Jesus. In many churches, as in the first week of Advent, a purple candle is lit, to represent penitence, preparation, and royalty (anticipating Christ the King).

How humbling it is to ponder on the indescribably awesome step God took in coming into the world, as one of us, with a mission to show us The Father, and to eventually lay down His life to save those who pledge their hearts to Him. In accordance with this, we suggest some books below which may help us to appreciate what God has done, and to prepare our hearts for His service.

At Oasis this year we have been privileged to run a range of different Pop-Up Bookshops at various events, some new and some old.

They range from The Salvation Army Children’s & Youth Conference at Warwick University, The Baptist Assembly in West Bromwich, and a New Baptist Family Camp in Evesham. More locally, Streatham Baptist Church, Everyday Church in Kensington, the Ekklesia Conference at St Paul’s Hammersmith, and most recently at the Christian Resources Exhibition in Esher.

We will also be at the Salvation Army Worship Conference and the Rise Together London Women’s Conference in Wimbledon in November too.

It has been great to be given the opportunity to serve these events with Christian resources, and we look forward to doing more in the future too.

Dave the Manager will be out and about with Pop-Up Shops quite a lot this week sharing Christian Resources at St Mellitus College in Kensington, West Wickham & Shirley Baptist Church in Croydon and at the Christian Resources Exhibition @ Sandown Park Racecourse on Wednesday & Thursday.

Our new shop front 'Crowdfund' campaign is now live!

Oasis Christian Bookshop has been spreading God’s Word in Wallington and the surrounding area for over 40 years. Our existing shop front sign is however in desperate need of repair and replacement.

As a small independent Christian charity, funds are very limited, so we have launched a 'crowdfund' campaign to raise funds to enable us to repair and replace the shop front and sign.
