It's a pretty amazing and special place and we can't wait to see you all tomorrow for the last day. But we're certainly not sad as Hedingham Castle is just around the corner. ❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜

✨ Gweniems Workshops Update ✨
We’ve had such a fun couple of weeks with our MyOtas groups!
Last week, the boys got stuck into designing their own monsters and pets 👾

Using card, colouring pens and paper fasteners to bring their ideas to life (with movement too!)
We saw some brilliantly freaky creations and lots of zig-zagging, wiggly pets

This week was the girls’ turn, and we finished with a little “end of term” party 🎉

Thank you so much to the mums for all the goodies 💕
The girls created stunning designs on black card using transfer foils and stencil tools
And of course… a couple of cheeky little bugs made an appearance 🐞

Gwen and I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has come along this half of the year.
We feel so privileged to meet and work with such amazing children every week 💛

Last week’s Gweniems workshop with the MyOtas group was a scary kind of fun… portrait drawing 😬🎨

At first there wasn’t a rush of excitement – more a few worried faces. Drawing noses, eyes, mouths and ears felt like a big ask, and there was definitely a bit of “I can’t do this” in the room.

But with a bit of reassurance (and a reminder that it’s not about being perfect), the group stuck with it. And honestly, that was the magic – taking the time to really look at each other, notice the little details, and capture their fellow artists in their own way.

This was a BIG step out of comfort zones… and they absolutely smashed it.
We had:

lots of giggles
loads of chat
brilliant creativity
and, most importantly, real pride in what they’d done

The portraits were fantastic – full of personality and character ❤️
So proud of you all 👏
(although I have to say… Gwen’s portrait might be my favourite 😉)

🐙🐠 Fluffy Fishy Fun at Gweniems! 🐠🐙
Last week’s MyOtas workshops were all about getting creative with fluffy pipe cleaners, bright beads and googly eyes… and the results were amazing!

Across both Monday and Tuesday sessions, the children made their own fishy mobiles, complete with colourful octopuses, bright little fish and lots of wiggly, beaded tentacles.

✨ What we loved most:

The creativity – no two mobiles were the same
The bold colour combinations (the brighter, the better!)
The brilliant attention to detail with beads and tiny fish
And of course… ALL the googly eyes 👀

Each mobile is now ready to hang up and wiggle around, bringing a little underwater magic to their homes 🧵💙

Such a fun couple of sessions – we absolutely love seeing these ideas come to life!

We had such a lovely session with our older MyOtas group this week 🎨✨
The children got creative decorating handmade trinket boxes, using acrylic paints, careful sketching, and lots of sparkly crystal gems. The designs were amazing – bold colours, beautiful details, and so much creativity on show.

There was also plenty of chatter and laughter throughout, which made the whole session feel really relaxed and joyful 💛

And… we did have one little cheeky “card monster” make an appearance 👀😂 adding a bit of unexpected fun to the mix!

Such a brilliant group and a lovely way to spend the afternoon. We can’t wait for the next one 🌟

Calling all crafty 7-11 year olds! Myotas - My Own Time And Space run Mindful Crafts workshops with the wonderful Gweniems in Wickford, especially tailored for anxious, autistic, ADHD children. Sessions take place on a Monday at 4.30pm.
