Lighting design for kitchen remodel in Wilmslow. Might look simple but it took an enormous amount consideration, experience, communication, measuring and product knowledge to find the right light to sit just so on the jutting beam.
There wasn't much head height, which eliminated many choices right off the bat. Most hanging pendants wouldn't look right, not having enough space to breath. And ceiling lights - besides being far and few between - typically have wide mounting bases, which wouldn't fit neatly on the beam. Spot lights would be too small and the light output, severe, glaring - not relaxing.
I suggested, explained and supplied this solution by VIBIA, global leading lighting manufactures - the Flat ceiling light/pendant. Perfect height, no glare, no views obstructed, beautiful soft (but powerful) uplighting to visually lift the ceiling. The canopy fit onto the beam (though the electrician initially put the cable in the wrong place and I clocked it in time, before they painted, and moved it centred to the table below - electricians keep me on my toes!).
Because they ordered the light through me, and not an impersonal website, I was able to order it with modified dimming to suit 3 core cable, which works with a standard wall dimmer. Furthermore, there was a problem with the delivery, more than once, and I stayed 'on the job' pushing for the replacement (two times) for months after the sale. The client was super lovely, thank goodness, as it was quite the wait with a few set backs. But she knew I was on her side and she could trust me to sort it and I did ! With beautiful results, hard won and worth it.
