I enjoyed making these lidded jars.

I really like the shape of the wider jar, and the smaller jar featuring a humpback whale was inspired by an amazing encounter on my recent holiday.

I've been experimenting with a bit of slip decoration on a couple of bud vases/reed diffuser jars.

The surface texture should create some interesting effects as the glaze breaks over the surface.

A dinky little trinket tub with swirly lid and an open oval section for the totem pole.

Also three wide, shallow, footed dishes that will be glazed and become part of essential oil/aromatherapy diffuser sets.

A whole bunch of test tiles heading off for glaze firing. It always amazes me how the colour of the un-fired glaze can be so different to the final colour. For example, a pink coloured un-fired glaze can become a shiny blue after firing. A bit of chemical kiln magic 🪄🌟

Fair to say that most of the glazes didn't turn out as expected. Possibly due to the iron in the clay body, possibly due to them being fired to cone 9/10 rather than cone 6 (which they are designed to be fired to).... but... at least I now know which glazes I can and can and can't use on this clay in the community kiln.
