A cascade of pretty pink flowers tumbling down from the top table.

Clouds of hydrangea, clusters of roses and plenty of ruffly lisianthus made up this beautiful, feminine piece.

Not only is it beautiful, it’s made using sustainable mechanics so it’s kinder on the earth too.

I loved helping superwoman Frankie (Meadow Lane Floral Design) bring her vision to life at Highfield Hall.

It felt quite fitting, really.

To photograph these sweeping table flowers in the last of the evening light.

Working with seasonal British flowers is about accepting that they won’t be here forever. Each new season brings its own flowers and you learn to appreciate them for the short time they’re here.

When I was taking my pictures, it struck me that daylight is much the same. I had a small window before the sky turned dark. Day becomes night, just as summer becomes autumn. We can’t change that but we can try to make the most of it.

So I lit candles and let the flowers have their moment in the fading light.

It feels really special to be able to use flowers to support children in my local community.

Wirral Gymnastics Club and Birkenhead Trampoline Club are not-for-profit sports clubs providing safe, inclusive spaces for children and young people across Wirral.

They currently have a waiting list of around 1700 children wanting to join, but their old, poorly insulated building means they can’t make full use of it.

The clubs have been selected for the British Gas Energy for Tomorrow campaign, giving them the chance to secure £40,000 to improve their facilities so they support more children.

But first, they have to raise £10,000 through crowdfunding within six weeks. If they don’t reach the target, they receive nothing!

I created and donated this basket full of flowers as a raffle prize for their summer fair. I hope whoever wins it loves it as much as I loved making it - and that it brings a little bit of joy to their home, while doing some good along the way.

The most magnificent 35mm film images, shot by Arielinblue photography.

Every petal of this bridal bouquet has been so beautifully captured on film. You can truly see every magical little detail from the ruffly snapdragon to the delicate little peach rose nestled at the bottom.

The roses smelled just as sweet as they look by the way.

Ahh I so love film. The soft, vintage tones are so timeless.

British flowers tell the story of the landscape around them. It’s part of why I love them 🌸

They arc, sway and dance because of how they grew to reach the sunlight.

Their petals curve, their stems twist, their colours shift as delicately as watercolour paint does on paper.

There’s a sense of spontaneity to them, as though they have just been gathered from a garden.

And that’s because, they have.

British growers harvest the flowers at just the right time, pop them straight into water and then they travel a short distance to the florist (that’s me, hello 👋)

Imported flowers are often grown to be perfect and uniform but I personally prefer a little bit of imperfection. Flowers allowed to be themselves, full of character - and grown without pesticides.

Our goal at May & June is to use British flowers as much as we possibly can. We will source from and work closely with local growers.

Working with flowers that are naturally in season is kinder to our environment and the variety and character of British flowers shapes the floral stories we create, resulting in designs full of spirit and beauty.
