Found this in my jewellery box. Made by Spiegelhalter gem creations, London 1974. I worked for them from around 1978 to early eighties. The hallmark is “SGC” in a flag ended cartouche. They had shops in Mile End rd Whitechapel and Loughton Essex. Also had a shop in Gants Hill Essex but that closed before my time. Ray Salter (shortened from Spiegelhalter) and his cousin Michael ran the business. I worked most of the time in Loughton and loved working for them. Started on £30 a week and did most of my work with a Ronson blow torch, yes the one used for plumbing and suchlike. I managed to master that before they finally bought a microweld machine that made life so much easier. But having learned to repair chains etc using the huge flame of the Ronson it set me up to “improvise” from then on. Great times and grateful for Ray’s belief in me.
