What a phenomenal day in HQ!

It made me realise exactly why we do what we do.. exactly why I started this.

Today we had the honour to meet an ex service man with such a heart breaking story, in a really difficult position…

He’s currently homeless in temporary accommodation, suffers health and mental health issues, he’s lost his phone so he couldn’t contact his housing officer about the flat he’s awaiting the keys for, couldn’t get his medication ordered.
He’s been under the care of other charities and organisations which I contacted on his behalf and they couldn’t help immediately.

We sat and chatted about life for hours over a cuppa… he was a real gentleman that’s just had a very, very hard life handed to him…

Been to uni, served in the Army, travelled the world, lost his son at a very young age, found himself homeless in Manchester, moved here for a fresh start, his Mam has dementia, he’s been clean from drugs for years.

His story completely touched all of us. 🥺
Seeing a grown man break down and cry whilst claiming he’s never been an angel but he’s trying… it was clear all he needed was someone to listen and to see him.

So we’ve provided him:
- New clothes, 2 pairs of new trainers, new underwear, new jacket
- Fortisip drinks as he can’t stomach very much real food
- Brand new phone with a top up

Personally bought him his dinner to make sure he’d had a warm meal.

Once he has his flat we will kit it out with furniture and white goods.

Why are our servicemen and servicewomen being discarded and forgotten about?

He walked in a broken man and walked out smiling and laughing saying today for the first time in years, he’s felt heard 🥺

We won’t make a real difference in the world but today we made a real difference to someone’s world.

That’s what it’s all about 🙏🏽🌈🌦️
