We all understand, you have seen it on Bargain Hunt and other shows, but each unit holder or Emporium have worked hard and meticulously to curate their items for you to enjoy, and treasure.
Please bare this in mind when visiting any treasure trove, we understand that times are hard, and we are always willing to try and provide affordable trinkets for everyone.
You being able to find something that brings joy and fantastic memories, brings us joy too!
This is a polite notice, please could you take a second to read it 🙏
I have now been running my own antiques & curios shop for just over 10 years this year.
Over this time, I have come to learn that somepeople thing my shop is a bartering establishment.
Walking in the door & going straight to the item you like is brilliant, but when I hear time after time, what's your best on this, or what's your best on that, it does kind of get to me.
I could name a handful of customers who are willing to pay the price on the ticket & be very happy with there purchase, or purchases.
Not just 2nd hand goods people want for cheaper, but even new stock that's literally just been taken out of the box.
I travel the country finding items to sell in the shop & keep the customers coming back, I just can't afford to be keep getting kicked in the shin!
Keep knocking me down on prices & one of two things can only happen.
I raise my prices, taking the discounts some of you want me to come down to into account, not really being fair on other customers, that are happy to pay the ticket price.
Or the shop will just fold, why should I travel around using my time to find you great items, to only be insulted by some ludicrous offer thats sometime half the price on the ticket.
Try popping into somewhere like B&M's or The Spar & say 'what's your best price on this', or a charity shop (who also sell 2nd hand goods) and do the same........I think not!
Sorry but this has been building up for a long time & I just needed to vent my opinion.
I'm a small buisiness who finds it hard at times & to be honest, I'm very lucky to have been able to keep Spotty Dawgs running, sometimes it's been really hard & have had to beg & borrow to survive, but we are still around, find quirky & unusual items to grace your homes.
So from now on, I'm going to toughen up, for the sake of the buisiness, or this business just won't survive much longer.
Thanks for taking the time to read this & I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, it's just the way it needs to be.
x ❤️
