Floristry is just one chapter of my love story with art and design.

When Ellen trusted me to create the signage for our organic photography workshop, it was the perfect moment to bring a long-time dream to life: wedding signage as fine art.

I’ve had this vision in my mind for months. I remember talking to Paula Rooney The Floral Mentor about this idea...and here it is. It was moving beyond single-use decor and creating custom art pieces, welcome signs, and design elements that serve a purpose on your wedding day, but live on as cherished art in your home forever after.

To me, fine art, flower preservation, and floral design aren't separate things. They're all different ways to play with texture, emotion, and story.

I have a confession: I used to hide my own wedding flower preservation in a box. 🫣🤍

I am incredibly sentimental. I love the idea of giving my couples a tangible memory of their day that sits beautifully alongside their photographs, something that reflects their personal style.

But back when I got married, I didn’t plan ahead. The morning after the wedding, I found myself completely against the clock. I couldn't bear to let my bouquet fade, so I rushed into getting them preserved by a traditional company.

When it arrived, my heart sank. It felt rigid, traditional, and heavy. It didn't look like me, and it certainly didn't match our home. So, it sat hidden away in a box.

I realised that while my wedding flower couples wanted unique, design-led florals for their weddings, there wasn't a preservation artist in the UK creating work that actually fit that modern, editorial aesthetic.

In 2024, I decided to fix it. I broke open my old preservation frame. Using my fine art background, I remade it - weaving my original wedding flowers together with delicate brushwork, layered paint, and rich textures.

Today, that piece hangs on my wall with absolute pride. It is an original work of art that honours my memories while seamlessly complementing our interior style.
