The Chronicle of Georgia tells the country’s story on a colossal scale. 🇬🇪

Rising above the Tbilisi Sea, this unfinished monument was designed by Zurab Tsereteli, with construction beginning in 1985. Its 16 enormous pillars depict Georgian kings, queens, national heroes, cultural figures, scenes from Christianity and traditional life.

Three towers. High metal walkways. One unforgettable view over Tbilisi.
The Tbilisi Skybridge rises above Nutsubidze Plateau, linking three residential towers built between 1974 and 1976. Designed by architects Otar Kalandarishvili and Gizo Potskhishvili, the complex is one of the city’s boldest examples of late-Soviet urban planning.
The bridges were originally imagined as part of a much larger network connecting the hillside neighbourhood. That full vision was never completed—but the surviving walkways still create one of Tbilisi’s most unusual architectural experiences.

Does this look like a building — or a city suspended in mid-air?

The Bank of Georgia Headquarters is one of Tbilisi’s most recognisable late-Soviet landmarks. Completed in 1975 for the Ministry of Automobile Roads, it was designed by Georgian architects Giorgi Chakhava and Zurab Jalaghania.

Its office blocks projects from tall concrete cores like bridges or tree branches, leaving open space between and beneath the structure. Today, the building is the working headquarters of the Bank of Georgia.

Mother of Georgia as known Kartlis Deda is a monument in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi. The statue was erected on the top of Sololaki hill next to the Narikala Fortress in 1958, the year Tbilisi celebrated its 1500th anniversary. Prominent Georgian sculptor Elguja Amashukeli designed the twenty-meter aluminum figure of a woman in Georgian national dress. The mother of Georgia symbolizes the Georgian national character: in her left hand she holds a bowl of wine to greet those who come as friends, and in her right hand is a sword for those who come as enemies.
