Central Region Canoe Fishermen Council - GH

The Anomabo Traditional Council and the fisher leadership in the community met with the Hydrolaugical Services Department (HSD) of the Ministry of Works and Housing on Friday, 9th August, 2024 to discuss modification of the community sea defence walls and the newly constructed wharf.

The meeting was held in the palace of the Omanhene. In attendance were Nana Mbrobah DaboIl I (paramount queen), the chief fishermen from Egyaa and Anomabo; and a group of officials from the HSD.

ILO engaging stakeholders of fisheries in Apam.
Present were fishers (fisher leaders, processesors, traders, mechanics etc).
Also, other tradesmen in the community were present (e.g. tailors, teachers, hairdressers, food vendors).

Ghana National Canoe Fishermen's Council Central Region Chapter (GNCFC-CR) is working in partnership with the International Labour Organization in Ghana; and it invited members of the local Westcoast Women Ambassadors (WWA) members to participate.

Engagement of migrant fishermen in Mumford on issues of Forced Labour in Fisheries on Thursday 21st June 2024.

The program was funded by the International Labour Organization as part of capacity enhancement activities for the Ghana National Canoe Fishermen Council - Central Region.

Day-2 of ILO "Promoting Decent Fisheries" sensitization and training workshop in Apam.

The ILO is supporting the GNCFC-CR to implement the program.

Participants include fishers, teachers, assembly members, etc comprising residents of coastal-fishing communities in the Gomoa-West District of the Central Region and surrounding areas.

Members of Westcoast Women Ambassadors (WWA) community based affiliate groups facilitated by the GNCFC-CR also participated.
