Jawara Foundation to Host the Third Edition of the Alhagie Bajeija Jawara National Qur’anic Competition
The League of Scholars and Preachers of Soninkara (Gambia Chapter), in collaboration with the General Secretariat of Arab Education (Amannah), will convene the final round of the Third Edition of the Alhagie Bajeija Jawara National Qur’anic Competition on April 5, 2026, at Masjid Bilal Boarding School near the airport junction.
This esteemed national event is sponsored by Dr. Abubakary Jawara, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, whose ongoing support demonstrates a strong dedication to advancing Islamic education and youth development.
The objective of the competition is to promote excellence in Qur’anic memorization and recitation, while fostering moral discipline, unity, and spiritual development among young Muslims. Participants from across the country, including students from Qur’anic schools and Islamic institutions, will gather to exhibit their mastery of the Holy Qur’an.
Named in honor of Alhagie Bajeija Jawara, the initiative continues to gain national prominence, serving as a platform for nurturing religious scholarship and preserving Islamic heritage within The Gambia. The event is also anticipated to attract scholars, community leaders, and observers, thereby reinforcing its role in strengthening religious and cultural engagement.
Organizers emphasize that the competition not only celebrates the teachings of the Qur’an but also contributes to the development of a more informed, disciplined, and cohesive society.
