Today on I wanted to show you the ancient Mayan City of Tikal!

Tikal is the ruin of an ancient city, which was likely to have been called Yax Mutal, found in a rainforest in Guatemala. It is one of the largest archaeological sites and urban centers of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization.

I had the honor and pleasure of climbing this amazing pyramids. And over looking the vast Guatemalan again forest. I pinch myself just thinking about it. Did I really do that!? 🤩😎

My favorite Temple is El Mundo Perdido. The edges of the pyramid ore rounded! And the stones weigh several hundred tons!

Today on I want to share a little bit about the origin of this bag. The floral Huipiles have always been some of my favorite ever since I was a little girl. This one is from the town of Chichicastenango. A town in Guatemala known for its vast open air markets. You’ll find streets and streets filled to the brim with vendors, artisans and creators in Chichi (short for Chichicastenango). Chichi is in the department of Quiché which is from the language with the same name and it means “many trees”.

These women worked so hard to host and attend this event. These women I’m sure stay up late hours after homework, or after their kids are asleep to work and own their craft and use their God given gifts and talents.

In honor of the series on Netflix out now! I’m offering 25% off the Como La Flor handbeaded clutch! When I saw this bag, everything about it screamed SELENA! Why is Selena so iconic and so important especially in the Latino American community? I personally believe it’s because we saw a little (or a lot) of ourselves in her. Everything from her physical features, her taste in music, to the struggles she faced as a Mexican American girl and woman. I remember going to a boujee theatre in Baldwin Park, CA 😂 with my cousins to see that movie and I’ll never forget the emotions I had watching that film at 7 YEARS OLD! After that for every holiday, get together, wedding etc.. my cousins and I would spend hours coming up with dances to and etc...

And now I see the impact she has on my little cousins as well! These are some drawings they made 2 years ago. It’s amazing to see how her legacy and impact has lived on and stood the test of time.
