It’s the height of summer. The cicadas are deafening, the heat from the sun is blazing. The cacophony of laughter and yelling fills the air. Suddenly, a shock of cold hits you as you jump into the icy waters of the nearby river. The world around you deafens for a moment as you languish in the cool water. Harmony from chaos.

A wild child product of under flor and oxidative aging with a blend of Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, and Touriga Nacional. Samantha Suddon’s Vine Venom Shining is the epitome of everything coming together and striking that perfect balance. It’s the bead of sweat dripping onto your strawberry creamsicle right before you pop it into your mouth. It shouldn’t make sense but it does.

We like things with a twist here at Crushed, not in a martini but that’s a different conversation. We’re talking barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc, we’re talking Palomino that isn’t destined for Sherry. It’s the intention to go out of your way to try something new, something different that puts a smile on our faces. And we’ve seen the smile that our Crab Miso Tagliolini has put on many of your faces. A light, and bright briny expression, rooted in earthy umami flavours. Two characters coming together to make something of the unexpected. It’s what we (and you) love about Crushed.

Between exclamations of “OMG! This tastes SO good!” and “What did you think of that book?” Christina has been heard throughout our happy little halls the past couple of months. She’s made herself known to strangers and regulars alike, and not least of all, our wine list. ;) It’s everything we love about Crushed, a cozy spot where friends, new and old, can come together over a glass of wine and some bites. So, cheers to Christina, we’ll miss you when you’re gone. 💛

*She’s not dying, she’s just moving back to Portland. At least she’ll have plenty of wine to fill the space we’ll be leaving.

Nothing beats the heat like burrata, babes! Served chilled with a tangy apricot sauce, it’s the best way to cool off. Not usually served with bread but we won’t blame you for ordering a side to mop up all that creamy, dreamy goodness.
