【What is MINPEI-YAKI？】

MINPEI-YAKI was originated on Awaji Island.
That's why it's also called Awaji-yaki.
The kiln was opened by Mr Minpei Gaju 200 years ago!
Minpei-yaki was made in large numbers at that time but they have become fewer and fewer in recent years.

These small plates are commonly used to serve condiments, pickled vegetables, or a small portion of food during meals. 
They can also be utilised in numerous ways outside of the dining room, such as trinket trays to hold jewellery, stationery, and candles
It could also make for an interesting anecdote to say ”this is an antique Minpei-yaki piece”.
Embrace a vintage lifestyle by cherishing historic items. It adds elegance to your daily routine.

【珉平焼きって？】

珉平焼きは淡路島で２００年前に始まりました。ですので淡路焼きとも呼ばれています。
賀集珉平（かしゆうみんぺい）が文政年間（1818～1830）に創始。
黄釉陶が多く、今回SOBAKOでご紹介するのも黄色が美しい豆皿です。
江戸から明治時代にかけて、大量に制作されていましたが、近年ではすっかり数が少なくなり、貴重なものになりました。

お醤油いれ、お新香、はたまたアクセサリー入れなどにも使えるこちらの皿。
「これ珉平焼きの骨董なのよ」って、お話のネタにもなりますね。

歴史のある良いものを大切に使う生活、オススメです

Sobako Antique Selection

Sumiping ware, Yellow glazed bean dish with dragon and cloud design

H 1.0 x W 9.5 x D 7.5cm (Due to the handmade nature of this item, individual pieces may vary.)

This is a small oval dish from the Meiji period.
The design depicts a dignified dragon with a wiggling body.

There are individual differences in the way the pattern appears. Please DM us for more information.

『珉平焼』
現在の兵庫県南淡伊賀野、淡路島で賀集珉平が文政年間（1818-30）に開窯した陶器窯です。こちらのお皿も珉平さんが作られたものだと言われています。

Mr. Suzuki is a ceramic artist and modeling artist. This butterfly was created by Mr. Suzuki to bring "color" to Japan, which has been in a low spirits after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Although Mr. Suzuki's usual vessels are usually colorless, he used Japanese paints to put Japanese colors on the butterflies.
The colors are applied in thin layers, resulting in a work with deep flavor.

Incidentally, in Japan, butterflies have been a symbol of longevity, immortality, and success in life because of the way they fly high into the sky and their transformation from chrysalis to adult insect. Butterflies are often used in kimono as well.
If you fasten it with a small nail, you can enjoy the dancing butterflies. A small work of art. How about adding some color to your room?

陶芸家であり造形家でもある鈴木さん。この蝶々は、東日本大震災で元気のない日本に「色」を届けたいと、鈴木さんが造作したものです。
普段の鈴木さんの器は色味のないものが多いですが、奥様が使っていた日本画絵具を用い、日本の色を蝶々に乗せました。
色を薄く塗り重ね、味わい深い作品です。

ちなみに日本では、蝶は、天高く飛び立っていく様子や、さなぎから成虫へと変化することから、長寿・不死・立身出世の象徴とされてきました。成人式の着物にも蝶々の柄はよく使われていますね。
小さな釘を使ってとめれば、蝶々が舞うような姿を楽しめます。小さなアート作品。部屋の彩りにいかがですか？

The popular “Kamahachi” round plates.

It is beautiful on its own but the shadows that form on the plate are also refined.

No matter what you put on the plate, it will look stylish, which explains why it is often used in restaurants.

窯八さんの作品の中でも人気の丸皿は、それだけでも美しいのですが、お皿かかる影にも趣があります。

Mugs and cups are often held in the hand and put in the mouth more often than plates. That is why I think there is a certain affinity , such as how they feel to the touch and whether or not they are comfortable to put on the mouth.

Tamotsu’s mug .official are rough to the touch, and at first glance they may be difficult to approach. However, you gradually feel the "warmth" and "softness" of the mugs.

The hand-crafted patterns are like the flickering of a candle flame.
That is why you feel calm when you look at it.

The rim of the mug is getting thinner and easy to drink. This is also important for me.

After I visit his atelier at the end of the year to say hello, I found myself getting to know him better, and we had a lot of fun talking.
Tamotsu's mugs looked very much like his own.

マグカップやコップは、お皿よりも、手に持って、口をつけることが多い。だからこそ、触り心地とか口につけて違和感がないかとか、自分との相性があると思う。

Tamotsuさんのマグカップは、手触りはザラっとして、一見堅牢な見た目。でも、その中に「あたたかみ」とか「やわらかさ」をじんわりと感じる、そんな気がします。
手びねりで制作した跡も、まるで「ろうそくの火のゆらぎ」のようで見ていて落ち着く。

飲み口は、ちゃんと薄く仕上がっていて、飲みやすい。ここも私には重要なところです。

年末のアトリエに「はじめまして」と押しかけてしまい恐縮していたのですが、気がついたらすっかり打ち解けて、お話するのが楽しくて。 Tamotsuさんご本人も、このマグカップのような方でした。
