VERTERE (パテレ)is a small brewery and pub in Okutama (奥多摩), in the western country side of Tokyo.

Being 90 minutes from Tokyo may seems inconvenient, Okutama is a wonderful place that is full of greenery, fresh air and crystal clear water. It is an ideal environment for brewing craft beer without the sense of hustle and rushing in city, which providing more freedom, time and idea to brew at their own pace.

VERTERE’s idea is “Imagine who, where and how you will drink beer to create a drinking experience of your very own.” Beers taste differently in different environment.

All of their can design features a random picture they took and a plant name, however all of them are not actually related to the actual beers. Their concept is to give you less info before you drink the beer. Without the preconception, you will have a stronger image as the aroma you smell when you open the can, the taste when you sip the beer, all those feeling and experience are everything about a beer.

The refreshing, one of the most food-friendly beer style, American Pale Ale with bottle design based on historical figure in Japan.

Strong citrusy and some piney aroma balancing with slight toasted malt aroma. Medium to light body. Similar to the aroma, citrusy flavor combining with slight toasty malt taste, little hop bitterness. Crisp and clean aftertaste, very drinkable.

In order to pay respect to the brewers that popularized craft beer in a commercial beer dominating market, the name "Souun" was selected as he started as a lowly samurai in Izu and work his way to a Daimyo that eventually conquered whole Sagamino area. "Souun" is always used as a synonym for "The low overcomes the high".

Ginjo is a series of beers with the goodness from both Ginjo Sake and beers, aiming to break the boundaries of beers. 10 times more time is needed to ferment compared to normal beers.

This beer was born with the help of Ehime Prefecture local laboratory, using local sake yeast "EK-3". Compared to "EK-7" it has a more floral, pleasant melon-like sweet scent. Hint of fruitiness also. It has more "Amazake", fruity characters compared to EK-7.

DD4D Brewing Ginjo Series EK-7:
