Our last toast together!

As the sun sets on the horizon, we find ourselves reflecting on the journey we have shared with you. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of Vinotek.hu as an e-commerce shop, a chapter that has been filled with fine wines, cherished memories, and the shared love of oenology.

The decision to close our doors has not been an easy one. Market circumstances have shifted like the unpredictable winds, and despite our best efforts to navigate these changes, we must bid you adieu. We are deeply grateful for the support, loyalty, and community you have provided us over the last 3 years. Your enthusiasm and love for wine have been the lifeblood of our business, and for that, we are eternally thankful.

As a token of our gratitude and to make our final days memorable, we are offering an exclusive farewell deal to our beloved customers. Enjoy up to 30% off on all our remaining stock. This is not just a sale, but a final toast to all the moments we've shared. Whether you're a collector or a casual wine lover, it's our way of saying thank you and offering you one last chance to enjoy the exquisite collection that we've prided ourselves on.

Our website will remain operational until 31/March/2024, and we encourage you to take advantage of this farewell offer while supplies last. Customer service will be available to assist with any orders or questions until our final day of operation.

Though we are saying goodbye to Vinotek.hu in this form the spirit of wine - which brings people together, enhances our meals, and enriches our lives - will continue to live on in each of us (and so the content of Vinotek.hu) We hope that the Hungarian wines you have discovered through us continue to bring joy and celebration into your lives.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your wine journey. Here's to one last toast, to all the good times, and to new beginnings.

Warmest regards,
Daniel Molnar

Aszú Glass is coming soon! A Hungarian-developed, handmade wine glass will be created to present a completely new, elegant, and sophisticated face of one of the world’s best sweet wines, Tokaj’s most unique treasure, the aszú wine.

The new glass will be introduced on 8/Dec/2023 on the International Aszú Day. Thanks to Ripka for making this possible!

Our customer said about Pannonhalmi Infusio:
Excellent red wine bordeaux style. This still young wine already tastes very round, harmonious, full-bodied with a very, very long finish. After drinking in a Budapest wine bar, I had to find a solution to have the wine sent home to put some bottles of it in my wine cellar. I am overjoyed to have found it here, shipping to a South German Swiss Paket address near the Swiss border worked flawlessly."

Tricollis, Hemina, Prior, Infusio - the names of the wines go back to the centuries-old Benedictine tradition.
The beautiful names are all blends except for Prior. One of the most essential wineries in Hungary, it belongs to the Abbey of Pannonhalma, located in the North Transdanubian region on a hilltop of the Pannonhalmi Hills, which has been perched there for over a thousand years. From the beginning, viticulture and winemaking were integral to monastic life. The names of today’s wines are linked to and commemorate this aspect of the monks’ lives.

There are couple of interesting things about wine export volumes during the last 6 decades. There is no surprise about the top exporters (only at the very beginning). But interesting to see how wine export collapsed in the eastern economical block around 1990 and how the wine "New World" emerged roughly at the same time.

It is still February so it is still about Furmint.

It’s a tradition in Hungary that February is a month when the flagship grape variety of Tokaj is celebrated. International Furmint Day is held on the 1st of February.
Furmint is a traditional Hungarian variety, it’s known mainly as the base of the famous sweet, Tokaji aszú, but it’s widespread in dry versions too.

Many refer to Kadarka as Hungary’s answer to Pinot Noir. It is not a coincidence. Wine made of Kadakra has a medium-vivid acidity, restrained tannin level, and light to medium body.

It has fresh red berry fruit notes, like raspberry, redberry, and sour cherry, with spicey paprika notes and a hint of herbal touch.

Both reductive and light oaky wine stypes are common due to their light body and vivid acidity with fresh red fruits. Vital oak aging doesn’t fit well with Kadarka.
