Birthing your own Shamanic Drum.

On our Shamanic Drum Birthing Workshops, you are guided through each of the practical steps of crafting your drum, but equally important are the ways we weave the threads of your prayers and intentions into the drum as it comes into being.

For most of the people who have joined me over the many years I've been holding these workshops, crafting isn't something they have a great deal of experience in. I give as much or as little help throughout the day as each person needs, whether that's practically with the making itself, or simply holding space while you have your own experience with your drum.

Numbers are kept limited so that everyone has the time and support they need. And over all these years, sharing this art with thousands of people, everyone has left at the end of the day with a beautiful and powerful sacred drum that they have birthed themselves.

Once our drums have been crafted, we journey together to meet and connect with the Spirit of the Drum, beginning that sacred relationship with this new medicine tool that will continue long after the workshop itself.

Our next Shamanic Drum Birthing Workshop takes place here at Heron Drums in Drumkeeran, Co. Leitrim, on 19th September.

A little introduction to the person behind Heron Drums... 🥁🌿

It's been really lovely to connect with so many more people and pages here in Ireland recently, so probably a good time to introduce myself and share a little more about the person behind this page and the work of Heron Drums.

I've been exploring and involved with earth-centred spiritual paths and practices for around 20 years. My work centres around the healing of our disconnection from the land, and finding ways to rebuild a deeper, more reciprocal relationship with the living world around us. That has led me into many different areas of work over the years, including exploring some of our older traditions and earth-honouring ways, much of which I also share through Jonathan Weekes | Spiritual Rewilding.

The drum has been part of my own spiritual journey since around 2007, and I began making drums in 2011. Since then, I've worked with thousands of people through Drum Birthing Workshops, Shamanic Drumming Circles, Drum Birthing, and other courses and gatherings, sharing the power and medicine of the drum for our times.

Over those 15 years I've worked hard to master the craft itself, creating beautiful, high-quality drums from ethically and responsibly sourced materials. Every drum I craft is birthed in ceremony and prayer, honouring the animal and tree that have given of themselves, and welcoming the spirit of the drum being brought into being. This is the spirit of the work that I share on our Drum Birthing Workshops.
