When Sam Allardyce writes about building a villa in Spain to get away from football, he says the builder got a bit carried away with it.
When the work was finished, he says the builder carved a sandstone sign in the shape of a football.
When the sign read “Big Sam’s Villa” and got nailed to the wall between the first and second floor, Sam says his wife Lynne wasn’t having it.
When she saw it, he says she went: “Your bloody villa, is it? What about me? Have I got nothing to do with this family? Is it all you?”
When Sam says Lynne was convinced it was his idea, he says she threatened to get a ladder and pull the sign down.
When that wasn’t enough, he says she also threatened to get the builder back to carve another sign underneath it.
The second sign was going to say: “And Lynne’s too!”
