AUTUMN LAWN CARE 🍂🌱

September and October are ideal months to give your lawn some attention before winter.

Start by clearing fallen leaves, scarifying where thatch or moss has built up, and aerating worn or compacted areas. If the lawn needs a boost, choose a suitable autumn lawn feed and repair bare patches while the soil is still warm.

For moss treatment, Westland Lawn Sand is a labelled option for established lawns. Ferromel 17 iron sulphate is an iron fertiliser for fast greening and correcting iron deficiency, while Organic CleanLawn feeds the grass, improves the soil and has an indirect action against moss.

Remember: moss often returns where lawns are shaded, compacted, poorly drained or cut too short. Improving those conditions will help keep the grass stronger.

SHOW RATS THE DOOR 🐀👢

Keep on top of rodent activity around yards, sheds and stores with our range of rat and mouse control products, including Storm Secure, Roban Whole Wheat, Ruby Grain, secure bait stations and non-poison mouse traps.

RODENTICIDE TIP: Don’t change products simply because a year has passed. If treatment has not achieved control after 14–35 days, review bait take, placement and site management. If bait is being taken but activity continues, contact us for advice on possible resistance and suitable alternatives.

A reminder that the closed period for applying chemical nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) fertiliser begins on 15 September.

That means 14 September is the final day for applications.

Plan ahead, keep an eye on ground and weather conditions, and contact your local Gardiner Grain branch for advice on Target Fertilisers and current availability.
