Let me get your opinion.....
You are the artist. You create your art the way you want. You create your own unique pieces. But, some of the techniques you use are derived from other artists techniques.
For instance, I saw Rinske Douna create her Dutch Pour years ago. And I tried doing the Dutch Pours as she did them, but I really struggle to leave negative space in my art, so I modified her Dutch Pour to suite how I do my art.
So when I do one of these paintings, I call it a Dutch Pour, or My Take On The Dutch Pour. Because the original idea to the pour came from Rinske Douna's Dutch Pour videos.
In your opinion, if my Dutch Pours are different to the original artists Dutch Pours, is it wrong for me to call my pours Dutch Pours? When calling my piece a Dutch Pour is really showing gratitude to the original artist who came up with the idea, but as an artist I can modify the technique to my own taste.
