Dinner last night was tandoori roti, onion salad and a Nawabi paneer gravy. All videos are on zillion YouTube channels. So please look those up. I am not sure which one my cook used.

A very good morning ! Velan got to come downstairs with us today for a change. I did a little bit of sorting and cleaning up in the store room after my coffee. Lit the lamp and fed the crows.

Our day so far!
I’ve never been comfortable with public speaking, but Kamala Aunty from the Anna Nagar Ladies’ Club just wouldn’t take no for an answer 😅🙏🏾.
Sarala and I drove over to Anna Nagar with stock for the store, making our first stop at the Ladies’ Club around 2 PM. They were hosting a cooking contest and somehow roped me in as a judge—enakke sirippu varadhu, enna poi judge ellam panna sollaraangale nu! 😅
We ended up tasting about 40 dishes centered around sweet potato for the sweets and channa for the savories. We hadn’t eaten lunch beforehand, but a spoonful of each dish was more than enough to fill our tummies and our hearts. The organizers gave us four criteria to judge by—role of the main ingredient, taste, nutrition, and presentation—so we picked our top three from there. I did suggest adding ‘innovation’ to the list for next time, though, because a few of the entries were surprisingly creative.
Right now, we’re at the Anna Nagar store. We just finished unloading stock for the next couple of days and are hanging around for a bit while Sarala checks on inventory and catches up with the staff.
OOTD is a light pure silk Pochampally ikat I picked up a few years ago—super comfortable, even in this furnace-like Chennai heat!
