A note to the woman who built me…

You were my first home.
Before the world made sense, your love did.

I didn’t understand your quiet sacrifices then—
the strength behind your silence,
the way you held everything together without asking for anything back.

Today, as I build spaces and lives,
I realise… everything I create carries a part of you.

And now, as a mother,
I feel you in every worry, every prayer, every small moment of love.

It’s a full circle I never saw coming…
but one I’m endlessly grateful for. 🤍

Brass, when used right, doesn’t just decorate a space — it anchors it.

In this entry, every element has been considered not as an object, but as a layer of narrative. The bells, the motifs, the detailing — all drawn from temple-inspired brass work, yet placed with restraint so the space feels composed, not crowded.

The material carries weight — visually and culturally.
But it’s the placement, proportion, and balance of light that allows it to settle into the architecture.

What appears ornate is, in fact, carefully edited.

Because design is never about adding more —
it’s about knowing what to hold on to.

Styling is not an afterthought — it is part of how a space is read. Each element is placed with intent —considering proportion, spacing, and how materials relate to one another. What appears simple is often the result of careful editing. The objective is not to fill the surface, but to organise it in a way that feels balanced and unobtrusive. When done right, the space doesn’t feel styled —it feels settled.~ Prerna Mohan.

Unused doesn’t mean unimportant.

This under-stair volume was treated as a deliberate design intervention, not residual space.

The layout is derived from the geometry of the staircase, allowing the bar unit to integrate seamlessly with the architectural envelope. A calibrated mix of open display, closed storage and an integrated cooler ensures the space is both visually composed and functionally efficient.

The diagonal grid aligns with the structural line, reinforcing a sense of intent rather than addition. Material continuity and controlled lighting further refine the composition, keeping it clean and cohesive.

Within this residential interior, Prerna Mohan reclaims this otherwise dead volume with purpose—
a concealed cabin opens to accommodate essential services, with the inverter and battery thoughtfully housed within. The intervention ensures utilities remain discreet, accessible, and seamlessly integrated into the overall design language.

The approach is simple — read the space, respect its form, and design with intent.

For this living space, the approach was to keep the envelope calm and controlled,
allowing one strong element to lead the composition.

The artwork anchors the room — not as décor, but as a visual centre.
Its scale and palette introduce contrast, movement, and depth,
while the surrounding elements are intentionally kept neutral.

The sofa, soft furnishings, and finishes are selected to support this balance —
comfortable, tactile, and understated.
Nothing competes for attention, yet nothing feels incomplete.

The objective was clarity in design —
to create a space that feels composed, functional, and easy to live in.

A setting where design is not excessive,
but considered.

At Prerna Mohan Design Studio, walls are designed as spatial elements—not just surfaces.

For this residential project, the wall is articulated through a series of recessed niches, introducing depth, warmth, and a clear architectural focus. The softly contoured forms sit seamlessly within the wall, while the metallic finish enhances the way light moves across the surface.

Integrated lighting activates each niche—transforming it from a simple recess into a layered moment within the space. What sits within is not decoration, but part of the client’s narrative—objects that bring memory, character and quiet presence into the home.

A considered intervention—where wall, light and object work as one cohesive composition.

A moodboard is not a collage — it sets the design direction.

For this home, the base palette is kept neutral—
earth tones, khaki, charcoal. This ensures the background remains controlled.

The primary layer comes from the client’s collections.
These are pieces sourced over time from different parts of India and globally—art, brass, and objects with cultural references.

There are works inspired by M. F. Husain, along with pieces from Bengal and other regions. Each element has a defined origin, so the space is built on context, not decoration.

The design approach was to study these collections and integrate them into a cohesive layout.

The living room acts as the central zone where these elements are brought together.
The objective was to maintain balance—ensuring the space functions efficiently while holding multiple layers without visual clutter.

This is where interior architecture is critical—
aligning varied references into a clear, resolved spatial language.

At Prerna Mohan Design Studio, the moodboard defines this framework before ex*****on.

Every niche tells a story.
Of travel, memories, and moments collected over time — brought together through thoughtful design and warm lighting.

Each recess is thoughtfully proportioned to create a balance between solid and void — allowing the wall to breathe while still holding presence.

The integration of warm, concealed lighting transforms every niche into a focal point, softly highlighting textures and artefacts, and creating layers of light that shift through the day. The muted, tactile finish further enhances the richness of the material palette, lending the space a sense of understated luxury.

The retail section at Enrich Salon was envisioned as more than just a display — it’s an extension of the salon experience, where discovery feels intuitive and engaging.

Brief
To create a seamless retail environment within the salon that encourages exploration while maintaining clarity, brand identity and ease of movement.

Study
We focused on customer flow, visibility of products, and layered lighting to ensure each category stands out without overwhelming the space. The integration of open shelving, central display units and clear zoning allows for effortless navigation while keeping the experience immersive.

Outcome
A contemporary retail landscape that feels curated yet accessible — where design enhances interaction, and every product finds its moment. The balance of warmth, precision and openness transforms retail into an experience rather than a transaction.

At Prerna Mohan Design Studio, we believe thoughtful design doesn’t just display products — it elevates how people connect with them.
