Handmade Home Decor & Fashion Accessories
Purse | Table Runners | Wall Hangings | Mason Jar Decor | Hairbands | Earrings | Plant Hangers | Mirrors | Tea Coasters | Kids Decor We remember what it felt like to grow up in homes where everything held meaning. Where the warmth of handmade things wasn’t a luxury, it was just… life. This isn’t just a business. It’s a quiet longing to hold onto something
that feels like it’s slipping away. From Design Botique to Aangan Stories
For a long time, we were Design Botique—creating pieces that brought beauty into people’s homes. But somewhere along the way, We started feeling this ache we couldn’t shake. We’d look around & wonder—why does everything feel so empty now? Why does it feel like we’ve stopped being proud of the things we make and started measuring our worth by what we can buy? As a child I remember my mother’s hands—how she’d sit quietly in the afternoons, sewing, stitching, weaving little parts of herself into whatever she made, there was something magical in knowing that it wasn’t just a blanket or a quilt she made, it was a piece of her, of us and there was pride in that. Not loud, flashy pride, but something softer… a kind of contentment that comes from knowing you created something with your own hands. Those memories stayed with me, quietly shaping how I saw the world & the things in it. Now it feels like we’re all running, trying to keep up. We buy things to fill spaces, but somehow, the spaces still feel hollow. We’ve forgotten the joy of making. So, Design Botique became Aangan Stories. Aangan—the courtyard, the heart of every home. A place where life happened without us even realizing it. Saris drying in the sun, the sound of knitting needles clicking, the faint smell of something cooking far off in the kitchen. I wanted to bring us back to that. Back to the place where things weren’t just bought; they were made. And because they were made with love, we held onto them a little tighter. This Isn’t Just About Products
We don’t want to sell you things. We want to share something that feels like home. Something that makes you pause for just a second and think—I remember this. I remember when life felt like this. I grew up in a home where nothing was wasted. Old dupattas became pillow covers. Broken bangles turned into wind chimes. And every little thing had a story, even if it was just a small thing you see & remember “oh… my mother made this when I was little.”
I carry those stories with me. And when I create something now—whether it’s a purse, a table runner, or a wall hanging—I’m not just making a product. I’m stitching those memories into every knot. Because maybe, just maybe, someone else is out there feeling the same ache I felt. The ache for something real. For something that reminds them of sitting cross-legged on the floor next to their grandmother, watching her hands move, wondering how she made everything seem so effortless. Nothing Wasted, Everything Loved
At Aangan Stories, we don’t throw things away. I save leftover threads, not because I’m trying to be sustainable (though I suppose that’s a nice side effect), but because I can hear my grandmother’s voice in my head saying, “Yeh kaam aayega.”
And she was right. Those leftover threads become little tassels on a purse, a bookmark, or a new design altogether. Nothing is ever just discarded. Everything finds its place, its purpose—just like it did in our homes growing up. This isn’t some fancy philosophy where we talk about sustainability as a buzzword because where I see it from it has always been there It’s just… how we lived. How our mothers lived. And I want to hold onto that for as long as I can. A Quiet Rebellion
I’m not interested in trends. I don’t care what the latest color of the season is. I care about creating pieces that feel like they belong to you & not just a catalogue. A table runner that sits quietly under bowls of dal and sabzi, soaking in the stories of family dinners. A wall hanging that brightens the corner where you sip chai and watch the rain. A purse that holds more than just things—it holds moments, little memories of days spent wandering. These aren’t just objects. They are pieces of life. Slowing Down, Holding On I suppose, in a way, this is my rebellion. In a world of blinkit or instamart where you just sit at home order a bottle of water & get it delivered within 5 minutes or where the world keeps telling us to move faster, to buy more, to keep up. I want to do the opposite. I want to sit with things. To take the time to make something that feels like it could live in someone’s home for years—not just for a season. Because I know what it feels like to hold onto something your mother made. To wrap yourself in a quilt that smells faintly like home. To run your fingers over stitches and feel the care woven into each one. I want you to feel that too. The Road Ahead: Growing Without Losing Our Soul
As a small, women-led team, we are proud of the work we do. Yes, we are still growing, and we know that growing will require innovation & scaling a brand that prioritizes personalization over mass production which is faster, easier & cheaper comes with its challenges specially in an age where consumption has outpaced need and the modern world moves fast but we believe in growing slowly, thoughtfully, and always staying true to our roots. Expansion for us doesn’t mean losing the personal touch—for us it means finding ways to bring it to more homes, more people, and more heart. The Aangan Stories Promise
I can’t promise you perfection. Nothing handmade is perfect. But I can promise you this—everything I make will carry heart. It will be made the way our grandmothers made things—slowly, with love, with a quiet kind of pride. And when you bring it home, I hope it doesn’t just sit there. I hope it becomes part of your life. I hope it listens to your stories, holds your memories, and reminds you, even for just a moment, of the homes we came from. Welcome to Aangan Stories. From our Aangan to yours—where everything feels like home.
