A confession: I try the clothes on before you do. 🤷‍♀️
Apparently, this has caused some concern.
But someone has to be the first person to try the garment on…
and since I made it, I feel I’m reasonably qualified for the job. 😂
I need to see how it falls, how it moves and whether all the time of obsessing over the details actually paid off.
So yes, I get the first try-on.
But don’t worry — I’m not keeping it.
(Although occasionally I have to be persuaded.) 😜

These red handloom culottes and the coordinating handloom top are made from Kerala handloom mundu — a traditional fabric, reimagined into something completely contemporary.
I love taking a familiar textile and giving it a new personality. The easy volume of the culottes, the simple handloom top and that delicious red make this one seriously fun to wear.

I completely understand that feeling. Especially when it’s silk, beautifully woven, and has probably spent years being treated as something precious.
But here’s the thing — cutting a saree doesn’t necessarily mean destroying it.
Sometimes, it means wearing it again.
This beautiful cream-and-gold saree has been transformed into a relaxed, fluid contemporary set — still keeping everything we loved about the original fabric, but giving it a completely different life.
And with that cream-and-gold palette, it felt especially right for Onam. 🌼✨
Because a saree doesn’t lose its story when you upcycle it. Sometimes, that’s exactly how you make sure the story continues.

There’s something about a good drape that makes even the simplest solid colour feel rather special.
These fluid, easy silhouettes are made in a viscose-cotton blend — soft, breathable, beautifully flowy, and just the right amount of dressed up without trying too hard.
The kind of clothes that move when you move, sit beautifully on the body, and work just as well for an easy lunch as they do for an evening out.

Aaramse has been my slightly neglected small-business baby. 😅
The idea has always mattered to me — adaptive clothing that makes dressing easier, more comfortable and a little more dignified for people with limited mobility, older adults, people recovering from surgery, and their caregivers.
What I haven’t always managed is the very unglamorous small-business bit: showing up consistently, talking about it, explaining why adaptive clothing matters, and building the awareness a new brand needs.
So this Sunday, I thought I’d start exactly where I am.
At home. Wearing one of our adaptive dressing gowns and getting on with my day.
This wrap-style dressing gown is designed to be easier to put on and take off, making it especially useful for someone dealing with a frozen shoulder, restricted arm movement or reduced mobility. Comfortable enough to lounge around in — but with thoughtful adaptive details built into the design.
And this is also me trying something new with Aaramse: instead of waiting until everything is perfectly organised, I’m going to take you along while I build it.
The experiments. The feedback. The products. The mistakes. The small wins.
Small business, small steps.
But hopefully, Aaramse is finally growing up. ❤️

So we gave this crepe saree a little wardrobe update.
This one has been upcycled into a fluid, draped silhouette — relaxed, roomy and beautifully easy, while still letting the original saree fabric do what it does best: fall, flow and move.
I’m loving these softer, sculptural shapes at the moment. They feel contemporary without trying too hard, and they’re exactly the kind of clothes you can throw on and somehow look like you made an effort.
And that, frankly, is my favourite kind of fashion.

A mango silk saree walked into the studio… and came out looking rather different. 💛
We kept the beautiful pallu right where it could get all the attention — as the yoke — and turned the rest of the saree into this wonderfully loose, swishy kaftan-style top, with a pair of trousers to go with it.
Easy, oversized, comfortable and just a little bit dramatic — which is exactly how I like my clothes. 😄
And before you wonder about the length: this was custom-made for its owner, who is about four inches taller than me, so on her it will fall exactly where it is meant to. I am merely borrowing it for the twirl!
Another old saree, another completely new life.
Because saree upcycling doesn’t have to mean making something that still looks like a saree. It can become something entirely its own.
