Lice no more!
Lice is not a sign of uncleanness or dirtiness. Even the cleanest person can get lice, lice are just as happy on clean hair as they are on dirty hair so if anyone makes fun of you (which they shouldn't), they are wrong. Don't freak out if you have lice - it is very common and most people get it. It will work out.
Head lice are parasites that can be found on the heads of people. Infection with head lice is called pediculosis.
Head lice are a common problem with preschool and schoolchildren.
Head lice are spread by personal contact or the sharing of combs, brushes, caps, and other clothing.
The affected individual, family members also infected, and the home all should be treated.
Treatment of the individual and the infested family members.
1. Remove all clothing.
2.Apply lice medicine, also called pediculicide, according to the label instructions. If a child has extra-long hair, one may need to use a second bottle.
(Warning: Do not use a cream rinse or combination shampoo/conditioner before using lice medicine. Do not rewash hair for one to two days after treatment.)
3. If some live lice are still found eight to 12 hours after treatment but are moving more slowly than before, do not retreat. Comb dead and remaining live lice out of the hair. The medicine sometimes takes longer to kill the lice.
If no dead lice are found and lice seem as active as before eight to 12 hours after treatment, the medicine may not be working.
4. See a health-care professional for a different medication and follow their treatment instructions.
Nit (head lice egg) combs, often found in lice medicine packages, should be used to remove nits and lice from the hair shaft.
5. After the initial treatment, check, comb, and remove nits and lice from hair every two to three days.
6. Retreat in seven to 10 days.
Home remedies :
The best treatment was a home remedy of Sea Breeze facial astringent, tea tree oil and conditioner.
We coated this thickly throughout and covering the girls' hair; left treatment on for 30 minutes, then rinsed out. Repeated treatment every 4 days for two weeks and the kids were lice free!
2. Dilute white vinegar with an equal amount of water.
Saturate the hair and scalp with the solution and then wrap a towel around the hair for about an hour or two.
Next dip a comb in white vinegar and comb your hair, focusing on one small section of hair at a time.
3.Keratin hair straightening treatment in salon kills lice. Expensive but wortshampoos.
4.Sargents ScratchX, Suldene flea shampoos
5. Essential oils can kill lice and help soothe the itching. There are many different “recipes.” One effective combination is 20 drops tea-tree oil, 10 drops rosemary oil, and 15 drops each of lemon (or thyme) and lavender oil mixed into 4 tablespoons vegetable oil. Rub the mixture into your dry hair, cover your head with a plastic shower cap, then wrap that with a towel. After an hour, unwrap your head, shampoo well, and rinse.
6. Grind eight to 10 garlic cloves into a paste and mix in two to three teaspoons of lime juice. Apply the mixture thoroughly onto the scalp. Leave it on for a half an hour and then rinse the hair thoroughly with hot water.
7. Mix together one teaspoon of tea tree oil, one ounce of natural shampoo and three tablespoons of coconut or olive oil.
Apply the solution gently throughout your hair and cover your head with a shower cap or towel. Leave your head covered for a half an hour and then rinse thoroughly with hot water.
Finally, comb through your hair while it is still wet to remove the dead lice.
