Dirty fingers means lots was accomplished in the studio today and maybe tomorrow I’ll get proper pictures of these sweet small and smaller solid silver studs, made entirely from scratch and including a few burns, scrapes and cussing 😂

Three 18k gold rings I inherited from my mother-in-law melted down into a nugget and being recreated into a wedding band for my future son-in-law.

The prototype ring is done, the stones haven’t fallen out, and next we’ll I’ll start work on a custom request of this ring!

Getting a project to the finish line usually isn’t pretty. It’s messy, it’s frustrating, it’s sometimes 1 step forward and 5 steps back. It took me 3 days to get this far. I lost 2 stones and a gold ball somewhere on the floor.

But if this idea works out, I’ll be doing a very happy dance!

I started work on this custom ring back in January maybe? Finished and sent it, but one corner of the band detached so it came back to me.

I had hoped I could simply re-solder the part, but due to the stone, decided not to risk damaging in with heat and opted to take it apart and recreate the setting.

Since I’m out of studio all spring, I wasn’t able to get back to work on it till yesterday, but it came together quite nicely and will soon be back to its owner!

Silver band with gold accents and I believe a dendritic agate stone. The stone and gold came from the customer.

I have 4+ more rings I need to finish before mid-September so wish me luck!

My mom came over for a visit which was lovely, we took a little road trip to Kyoto. It was her first time to ride a Shinkansen bullet train and the Kinkakuji Golden Pavilion was as stunning as always.
