Looks like Tokyo Geek 2.0 has been quietly blacklisted by Facebook.

We'll be creating 2 new pages:
- Tokyo Geek 芸術
- Tokyo Geek Store

While this page will stay up, nothing new will be posted here.

The decision to create these new pages came extremely hard. Some you might remember how successful Tokyo Geek, our first page, was. We've generated 11k followers in just 6 months... only to be deleted by Facebook for very dim reasons, without even a chance to make the supposed wrong right.

We created this page next, and worked hard on our content, but the page just refused to grow, even when we resorted to paid ads. Moreover, the page got restricted when we posted a picture of Cammy from Street Fighter. It wasn't n**e, it wasn't violent, it was just Cammy...
It's very, very frustrating.

Sadly, there are no real alternatives to Facebook in terms of functionality, so we have no choice but try again. With a slightly different approach.

Gakuryū Ishii's "Gojoe"

If you want something out of ordinary, Ishii-san never disappoints. One might not like his stuff, but he's a true Author, meaning his movie will scar you, p**s you off or delight you, but will never leave you empty-handed. What else to expect from the guy who helped give birth to the Japanese cyberpunk?

So, what is "Gojoe"? It's part historical drama (based on the legend of Musashibo Benkei), part fantasy, part action. At times it felt like a live-action adaptation of an anime -- I just love when movies do that! I've skimmed through the reviews and was surprised how many people found it boring -- oh, the age of short attention span... To me, every pause was measured -- the filmmakers knew what they were doing. I only wish they had more money to build more lavish sets as I felt the movie would really benefit from it... not to say it didn't succeed in hitting all the points.

Another thing that I grew to appreciate more in Japanese cinema is how sometimes you're just shown the developments without clear indicators of who's the bad guy or whom to root for -- you have to follow the story and see for yourself.

I won't be spoiling anything for you, just watch it if you're into Japanese mythology, historical dramas, Tadanobu Asano, Onimusha, Ishii's signature punk style and want something different, something thoughtful for a change.

I can't but mention how lucky I was to watch it with Stacy Typha, who opened my eyes to a lot of the good stuff in the movie I didn't notice in the 1st place.
