A CATHOLIC FORMATION OF BODY AND SOUL

In Christ and the Young Man, Monsignor Toth invites boys to take up the challenge of conquering their soul with their eyes set on an ideal that has inspired men from antiquity to modern times: the man of firm principles and dauntless will power; the knight without fear and beyond reproach; the gentleman; the lad with a soul as strong as steel, straight as truth, bright as daylight, and crystal clear. But all was not said in that book, for just as nature needs grace to perfect it, progress in character-building depends on following the ultimate ideal, our Lord Jesus Christ.

BECOME A MAN OF CONVICTION

Here for the first time in English is the supernatural side of the program! Following the Lord Jesus from the crib at Bethelehem to the cross on Calvary, Christ and the Young Man schools the reader in how to be victorious in the spiritual combat.

Written specifically for boys, this books helps with

How to handle situations at home and at school

Fighting temptations

Prayer

Meditation

Spiritual Direction

Cultivating the life of the soul

Discerning a vocation

Learning to love the Lord Jesus and to follow Him.

The role of Catholic fatherhood has been diminished in three ways. First, it has become smaller. Fewer things are defined as a father's distinctive work. Secondly, fatherhood has been devalued. Third, and most important, fatherhood has been decultured—stripped of any authoritative social content or definition.

The question is, What do fathers do? The tragedy of our society is that it can't answer the question and neither can most Catholics. Forward-thinking Integrity Magazine gives answers:

Men, Mary, and Manliness

The Family Has Lost Its Head

Economics of the Catholic Family

Afraid to Marry?

Glorifying the Daily Grind

The Heroism of the Big Family

Bringing the Church into Work

Forward to the Land.

Holiness for Men

The Confirmed Hero

What Is a Grown-up?

The Father in the Home

A Man's Work

Our Work Can Help Us to Pray

Devotion to the Sacred Heart is a powerful little booklet filled with many of the treasures to be found in the veneration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Besides containing an explanation of the symbolism found within the Image of the Sacred Heart, it also includes explanations of the 9 First Fridays devotion, known as the Great Promise, and the miraculous cure of St. Gemma Galgani, as well as many profound exhortations to offer reparation to the Sacred Heart.

Our Lord instituted this authoritative and moving devotion Himself, saying, "I set neither limit nor measure to My gifts of grace for those who seek them in My heart."

In our age of religious indifference, when fervor and charity have grown cold, Jesus exhibits to the world His Sacred Heart as the symbol of God's infinite love showing His Divine Heart as a furnace whose burning rays of love are able to reanimate faith and rekindle love in hearts grown cold and ungrateful.

Whether you've just begun to pray or have been faithfully praying for years, the wisdom in this book will help you pray better. It will rescue your prayers from distraction and superficiality and transform them into real occasions for communion with God.

Fr. Lawrence Lovasik here clears away misunderstandings that many people have about prayer and shows you innumerable ways you can avoid common obstacles and deepen your prayer life, no matter how much or how little you may have prayed before.

You'll learn what prayer is, why it is necessary, and how to practice the essential forms of Catholic prayer. You'll discover how the Church's sacraments fortify your prayer and how prayer, in turn, enhances your reception of the sacraments. You'll find out how to bring to your own prayers the qualities that make prayer effective. Your prayers will become more heartfelt, more focused, and more full of love for God.

Soon your prayer will fill you with a divine peace and joy that no one will be able to take from you. You'll achieve the glorious aim of all prayer: union with God!

Probably the finest book ever written about the Rosary; appeals to all ages. Shows the great spiritual power of the Rosary, which is appreciated by few. Tells why the Rosary is the most important private prayer. Canon William says of De Montfort's book, "It goes far beyond mere research. We might say that it contains everything that can be said about the Rosary–its content and form, its real worth, about the instruction necessary for its appreciation and use."

After Our Lady, it is the speculative tradition of the Church that there is no saint greater than St. Joseph. After all, this supremely humble man about to whom no words are attributed in Scripture, merited to be the foster-father of God Himself in the Person of Jesus Christ. What a sublime mystery; what a noble office; what a glorious man! St. Joseph is the single greatest male to ever walk the Earth, other than Our Lord Himself. Thus, aside from Our Lord and Our Lady, there is no better recourse we can have than him on whom even they depended in the Holy Family.

A Manual of Practical Devotion to St. Joseph serves as an instruction to the faithful on how to truly devote oneself to this remarkable humble and just saint. Written in 1709 in Italian and translated in the 19th century, it contains tremendous insights on the person of St. Joseph, as well as reasons for our devotion to hymn and a well of prayers, novenas, and hymns. God chose St. Joseph to represent the ideal of fatherhood in the Holy Family; let us learn from him! The advice of Holy Mother Church is to "Go to Joseph." This book shows the way.
