Shantel Makena - 10 years old
Natasha Merisa - 10 years old

Shantel was found in her uncle's house, she had been defiled and murdered; her body arranged with a belt around her neck to look like she had taken her own life. This was in Kibirichia

Natasha was kidnapped, defiled, murdered and dumped in a pit latrine in Kakamega.She was thrown away like she did not matter.

Shantel and Natasha, both ten. Girls with a futures, families and a right to safety that this country has refused to protect. Their families are demanding full and speedy investigations , prosecution and justice. Not silence.

We say their names because they were not just statistics, they matter.

They should have been in school tomorrow, at play safe but instead families are burying children. Femicide does not spare little girls either . A country that has yet to declare femicide a national crisis. These are not isolated tragedies. We demand swift justice for these children and full implementation of the recommendations of the GBV Taskforce as well as real and measurable protection for the children of Kenya.

These children should not be another name added to a list that we never should have had to start.

As we celebrate this day,I call upon the government to move beyond promises and take immediate, decisive action to address the rising crisis of Gender-Based Violence(GBV)

Safety and dignity are fundamental human rights. The government must treat GBV as a national emergency and commit the resources necessary to protect its citizens.
