Cambodia Launches Visa-Free Entry for Chinese Visitors Today

Cambodia has officially launched a pilot visa-free entry program for Chinese tourists starting today, June 15, as part of efforts to boost tourism, investment, and people-to-people exchanges between Cambodia and China.

Chinese citizens from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau can now enter Cambodia without a visa for up to 14 days per visit, with multiple entries allowed until October 15, 2026. Travelers only need to complete the electronic E-Arrival Card before arrival.

China remains Cambodia's largest source of international visitors, with more than 331,000 Chinese tourists visiting the Kingdom during the first four months of 2026. Tourism officials expect the new policy to further increase arrivals and support the recovery of the tourism industry.

Tourism Minister Huot Hak described the Chinese market as one of Cambodia's most important tourism segments and expressed confidence that the visa exemption will encourage more leisure travelers, business visitors, and investors to choose Cambodia.

Industry leaders have welcomed the initiative, viewing it as a major opportunity to strengthen tourism demand, support local businesses, and accelerate economic growth in key destinations such as Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Preah Sihanouk Province.

Cambodia and Russia Celebrate 70 Years of Diplomatic Relations

Cambodia and Russia marked the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations during a Russia Day reception in Phnom Penh, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation in politics, trade, education, culture, tourism, and investment.

Hosted by the Russian Embassy, the event brought together government officials, diplomats, business leaders, academics, and alumni of Soviet and Russian universities. 🏔️ Meet the Man with Cambodia’s “Highest Job”: Guiding Hikers to the Top of Aural Mountain

At 1,813 meters, Aural Mountain in Kampong Speu Province is Cambodia’s highest peak. For 51-year-old guide Sang Sao, climbing the mountain is more than an adventure—it is his livelihood and passion.

For over eight years, Sao has guided visitors through challenging trails, climbing the mountain more than 200 times. Wearing simple slippers and carrying only a wooden stick, he helps hikers navigate steep, rocky, and slippery paths while carrying heavy loads of up to 25 kilograms.

Known for his honesty, patience, and dedication, Sao believes tourism can transform lives and protect nature. After leaving his former job of collecting timber from the forest, he joined the local tourism community and now promotes conservation through ecotourism.

Beyond leading hikers safely to the summit, Sao encourages visitors to appreciate the beauty of the forest, the mist-covered landscapes, and the importance of protecting Cambodia’s natural resources. His work has earned him a strong reputation among travelers while helping generate income for the local community.

Cambodia Attracts $3.26 Billion in Investment, Creating 132,000 Jobs in First Five Months of 2026

Cambodia approved 225 investment projects worth $3.26 billion during the first five months of 2026, generating approximately 132,000 jobs, according to the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).

The approved projects span key sectors, including special economic zones, renewable energy, electric vehicle and motorcycle assembly plants, a car tyre manufacturing facility, and a five-star hotel. China remained Cambodia's largest source of foreign investment.

Deputy Prime Minister and CDC First Vice-Chairman Sun Chanthol said the strong investment inflow demonstrates growing confidence in Cambodia's political stability and economic prospects.

He highlighted major trade agreements—including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, the ASEAN Free Trade Area, and bilateral free trade agreements with China, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates—as key factors driving foreign direct investment into the Kingdom.
