[REGULAR HOBBY CLASS] 호쿠사이의 붉은 후지산, 터프팅으로 기록한 정적의 순간🏔️

벌써 ndn studio와 1년이 넘는 시간동안 함께하고 계시는 정규 취미반 주원님의 손끝에서 호쿠사이의 또 다른 걸작, 이 멋진 터프팅 작품으로 탄생했습니다!

주원님은 호쿠사이 작품 중 ‘가나가와 해변의 파도 아래’를 소장용 거울과 선물용 액자작품으로 총 두번 작업하셨었는데요,
이번에는 호쿠사이의 고요하고 청명한 아침의 기운을 담은 연작을 선택해 주셨어요
이번 작업 역시 친구분께 선물로 드릴 예정이라 작품의 표현법 기획 단계에서부터 고심하시며 정성과 마음을 가득 담으셨답니다

이 작품은 늦여름에서 초가을 사이, 이른 아침의 강렬한 햇살을 받아 후지산의 산등성이가 붉게 물드는 그 짧고도 신비로운 찰나를 묘사하고 있는데요,

원작의 웅장한 색감을 살리기 위해 붉은색에서 녹색으로 이어지는 오묘한 그라데이션을 실의 질감으로 아주 섬세하게 풀어내 주셨어요
그리고 푸른 하늘은 루프건을 사용해 평온한 면의 느낌을 강조했고, 그 위로 흐르는 흰 구름은 12mm 컷건으로 작업해 입체감 있고 포근한 볼륨감을 더했습니다

정성껏 한 땀 한 땀 채워 넣은 이 특별한 작품이 친구분의 새로운 보금자리에서 오랫동안 빛나는 선물이 되길 바랍니다!

[REGULAR HOBBY CLASS] Hokusai’s Red Fuji, captured in a quiet moment through tufting

From the hands of Juwon, a regular hobby class member who has been with ndn studio for over a year, Hokusai’s masterpiece “Fine Wind, Clear Morning” has been reinterpreted as a stunning tufted piece.

Juwon had previously worked on “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” twice—once as a mirror piece and once as a framed artwork for a gift.
This time, she chose a piece that captures the calm, crisp energy of a serene morning.

As this work was also intended as a gift for a friend, every step—from planning how to interpret the piece to the final execution—was filled with care and thought.

The artwork depicts a fleeting, almost mystical moment between late summer and early autumn, when the early morning sunlight turns the ridges of Mount Fuji a deep red.

To reflect the original’s rich color palette, Juwon carefully expressed a subtle gradient flowing from red to green through layered yarn textures.
The calm blue sky was created using a loop pile technique for a smooth, even surface, while the white clouds drifting above were tufted with a 12mm cut pile to add soft volume and dimension.

Stitch by stitch, this piece was made with great dedication—
we hope it becomes a lasting and meaningful gift in her friend’s new home.

상담 과정에서 비슷한 색감의 3가지 컬러 중 영현님께서 직접 컬러를 선택해 드로잉의 분위기와 가장 잘 어울리는 톤으로 완성했습니다

그리고 이번 작업의 키 포인트!
귀여운 물고기 드로잉 느낌을 그대로 살리기 위해 브러쉬 스트로크가 느껴지는 라인을 최대한 표현하는 방향에 집중해 작업했어요

[CUSTOM ORDER : TUFTED RUG] Turn Your Drawing into a Rug

This custom tufted rug was created based on a drawing by Younghyeon.

During the consultation, we reviewed three similar color options, and the final palette was carefully chosen to best match the mood of the original artwork.

The key focus of this piece?
Capturing the charm of the cute fish drawing by preserving the brushstroke-like lines as much as possible.

Though simple in form, the hand-drawn feel brings a unique character to the rug — making it truly one of a kind.

하루 중 가장 오랜시간을 머무르는 공간, 집과 자연스럽게 어우러질 러그를 제작했습니다 -

책장 앞에 두실 예정이라 깔끔한 블랙&화이트 무드에 평소 삶의 모토로 두던 단어들의 조합으로 레터링 러그를 의뢰해 주셨는데요,
폰트의 느낌이나 상하좌우 여백 등 디자인 작업부터 ndn studio의 느낌을 가득 담아 제작해드리고,

마지막 카빙으로 텍스트의 존재감을 한 층 더 확실하게 마무리해 일상 공간에 포인트가 되는 러그로 완성되었습니다!

A rug designed to blend seamlessly into the space we spend the most time in — home.

Since it was meant to be placed in front of a bookshelf, the client envisioned a clean black & white mood, combined with words that reflect their personal life motto.

From the very beginning, we carefully shaped the design — from the choice of font to the balance of spacing — bringing in ndn studio’s signature touch throughout the process.

Finished with precise carving to enhance the presence of the lettering, the rug now stands as a subtle yet striking point within the space.

[START-UP CLASS] 좋아하는 패턴을 러그로 만들어보면?

ndn studio 스타트업 클래스 수강생 채림님의 두 번째 터프팅 작품을 소개합니다 -

첫 번째 작품이 터프팅의 기본기를 익히는 작업이었다면,
이번 작업부터는 다양한 기법을 믹스해 직접 디자인을 구성해 보는 연습을 시작했어요

채림님은 평소 실생활에서 사용할 수 있는 러그를 자신만의 감성으로 디자인해보고 싶다는 생각을 가지고 있었는데요,
그래서 이번 작업은 컨셉을 정하는 단계부터 함께 디벨롭했답니다

작업 전, 작품을 구상하면서 정말 많은 이야기를 나누었고,
쵸키쵸키 터프팅 의 러그는 다양한 패턴을 채림님만의 색으로 풀어내보자는 결론에 닿았어요

그래서 이번 작품에서는 다양한 패턴들 중 레오파드 패턴을 좋아하는 컬러, 블루로 표현해보기로 했답니다
또 러그가 너무 플랫하게 보이지 않도록 단차가 들어갈 부분을 직접 디자인해 입체감을 더했어요

스타트업 클래스는 터프팅의 시작부터 끝까지 모든 과정을 배워가는 클래스이기 때문에 이번 작업에서 터프팅의 가장 기초가 되는 기포지 걸기부터 직접 시작했습니다!

[START-UP CLASS] What if you turn your favorite pattern into a rug?

Introducing the second tufting piece by Chaerim, a student from ndn studio’s Start-up Class.

While her first piece focused on learning the fundamentals of tufting, this project marked the start of developing her own design by mixing different techniques.

Chaerim wanted to design rugs she could actually use in everyday life while reflecting her own aesthetic.
So for this project, we worked together from the very beginning to develop the concept.

After many conversations while planning the piece, we came to a direction for CHOKI CHOKI TUFTING—reinterpreting various patterns through Chaerim’s own color palette.

For this work, she chose a leopard pattern, expressed in her favorite color, blue.
She also designed height variations within the rug so the piece wouldn’t feel too flat, adding a subtle sense of dimension.

Since the Start-up Class covers the entire tufting process from start to finish, this project began with one of the most fundamental steps—stretching the primary tufting cloth on the frame.

음악 프로듀서이자 DJ인 RAIDEN님을 위한 생일선물로 터프팅 커스텀 러그 제작 의뢰가 들어왔어요!

어떻게 제작하고 싶으신지 설명해주시며 직접 러프하게 그린 스케치를 함께 전달해주셨는데요,
스케치 확인 후 PLENO Ent.와 레이든님의 로고를 터프팅하기 적합한 디자인두가지 버전으로 제안해드렸고, 최종 컨펌해주신 B안으로 작업에 들어갔습니다

ndn studio에서는 작업 전 간단한 스케치와 대략적인 사이즈를 말씀해주시면 제작 스케줄과 견적안내, 그리고 필요하시다면 디자인 제안도 도와드리고 있어요!

날카롭게 서있는 듯한 텍스트의 특징을 살려 PLENO는 카빙작업을 해서 배경과 텍스트의 경계를 뚜렷하게 했고,
RAIDEN 로고는 특유의 질감을 살리기 위해 간단히 시어링 작업만 진행했습니다

작업기간이 짧았지만 선물해드리는 분의 마음이 듬뿍 담길 수 있도록 섬세하고 꼼꼼하게 제작했답니다

[CUSTOM ORDER : TUFTED RUG] for DJ RAIDEN

A custom tufted rug commissioned as a birthday gift for music producer and DJ RAIDEN.

The client shared a rough hand-drawn sketch of the idea they had in mind.
After reviewing it, we proposed two design options suitable for tufting the PLENO Ent. and RAIDEN logos, and moved forward with Option B, the final choice.

At ndn studio, if you bring us a simple sketch and an approximate size, we’ll guide you through the production schedule, quotation, and even design suggestions if needed.

To highlight the sharp, structured look of the lettering, PLENO was finished with carving to create a crisp boundary between the text and background.
For the RAIDEN logo, we kept it minimal with shearing only, preserving its distinctive texture.

The timeline was tight, but we put extra care into every step so the rug could fully carry the heartfelt meaning behind the gift.
