A colleague recently told me she loved reading as a teenager. But as work got busy and life became hectic, she stopped reading for years.

Recently, she decided to start again and picked up a book from Read with Ilma. After finishing it, she shared that she wants to keep reading.

Reading Gallivanting by felt like taking a trip down memory lane. 🧡

As I read about her Singapore journey, I couldn’t help but think about my very first visit there. At the time, work had been overwhelming, and I was longing for a break. When my husband got the opportunity to visit Singapore for work, he asked, “Why don’t you come along?” While he attended meetings, I wandered through the city on my own, and we extended our stay for two extra days to explore together.

Singapore gave me so much more than a holiday. I fell in love with its efficient transport, spotless streets, and the kindness of strangers. Some of the people I casually met during that trip are still my Instagram friends today. 🤍

A year later, I found myself back in Singapore for two nights before heading to Malaysia. And if you ask me today, I’d happily go again. There’s just something about the city’s energy that keeps calling me back.

But just like beautifully reminds us, no matter how much we fall in love with other places, home is home. For me, that’s Sri Lanka. 🇱🇰

You miss your language. You miss the familiar smiles. You miss the food, the little routines, and the feeling of belonging. Travel teaches us to appreciate the beauty of the world, but it also deepens our love for the place we call home.

Thank you for reminding me of that ♥️🥰
